How many people, if anyone, is doing this?

So ive been tinkering around with my GST lately and replaced the battery tie down and tray when i saw the fuel pump testing connector. It got me thinking, for people who have had a problem with the MPI Relay/ Fuel pump issues: Has anyone ran a 12V Switch to it to put constant power to it instead of just while cranking? Just curious.

Which mpi relay fuel pump issue are you referring to? I can say that literally no one is doing what you are talking about. Most people who have a problem with their mpi relay or wiring fix the problem.

^ Yes i knew this was coming. Im not having any MPI Issues, was just a wandering thought. Back when I was in high school my first car had a problem with the cooling fans not coming on when they were supposed to. Couldn't track down the reason why (86 Dodge Aries LOL!) so we wired a switch to turn them on and off. I dont know why but kit kinda made me think if anyone is doing this.

Well first off there is never a situation where a wiring problem is not diagnosable. There are people out there will just wire up a switch, but it is always fixable.

On srt4s we run alternator to pump, with a relay. so your not talking nonsense.
but thats for preformance, not being lazy about diagnosis.

I was 17, and it would cost more to trace down a wiring problem than what the car was worth, so in this situation I don't see it being unreasonable.

I would wire in my own aftermarket continuous duty relay, and then use a toggle switch or the ECM output wire to turn that relay on and off. I'd advise against a toggle by itself unless it's rated for the continuous amperage a fuel pump draws.

On racecars, I just use an aftermarket switch panel for everything. Ignition/Computer, fuel pumps, water pumps, etc...But I'm usually not working with a factory harness in the car either.

I have a multimeter....used it a few times :/. When I was 17 I didn't even know how to change a headlight let alone trace down a wiring problem....fast forward to know and I'm pretty sure I know what I'm doing. So anyway to sum this up....it was just a thought, no I didn't have a problem, let's just leave it at that

Did you figure it out.

Blinker fluid was low

Seems it would be useful to prime the fuel system following engine work, since the fuel pump only kicks on while cranking.
