well if i am misinformed my bad.. but i have read it a few places..

and how many people who posted in this thread are builders who used a clean room and make sure every part was in spec ect..

while we all know the 4g63 isnt a v8 from your grandpa's ol chevy that you can slap together and it will probally run. not everyone takes exact precautions..

anyway i have a pte scm50 and im pretty happy with it..

i got a 1000 on my 50 trim so far, and so far great, i also run my car daily, about 30,000 miles a year, deliver pizzas and drive to school, so if it last a year, which my last used mutt level one turbo, bought used , who knows how may miles, put 15k or so my self on it, now on buddys car, and after all that bad rap those turbos got, that ones still good, so well see how the pte does... so far great except some little boost creep problems im not likeing.

You are comletely mis-informed. A properly built motor will have been cleaned and not have any issues with metal shavings. What do you think those shavings would do to the bearings in you motor? I, along with countless others, have built several motors and never had problems with turbo failure.

Not true. The bearings surrounding a turbine shaft are quite smaller, and have extremely tight tolerances compared to a 46g3 crank/rod bearing. Therefore the small metal shavings that come off when you hit the key everytime, make their way into that tight space, and destroy things.

It is a common practice in NewEngDSM when we run a new motor, we slap on a "break-in 14b" for the first thousand miles. This will remove all of the the shavings that would mess up a nice turbo before it happens.

95% or turbo failures, are from oil contamination. Even your 150k mile 4g has a small amount of debris shaved off, everytime you start the engine. It just depends on how much of that makes it to your turbo via oil filters and such.

I have the GT32, and its Nasty. It supports 55lb/min and spools great for street use.
My car hasn't made it to the dyno yet but properly supported, 55lbs/min will break driveline parts easily if your not ready!

Hope this helps.

i used a few pte turbos in the past and i will here shortly. i had a bolt on 60 trim with ams oil lines and had it for about 10k miles, i used the gt3255 and was very happy with the turbo, spool was great and it held 27psi till 7300 rpm. this was on a t/3 setup with a .63a/r.
