How long will the 4g63 last?

A vauge question will get a vauge awnser. What have you done to it? is it stock? How often do you change your oil? that kind of stuff, but it should last pretty long, my daily driver 4G63 has 188k, and runs like a champ still, and Ive seen a few with around 215k on them.

EDIT***Yeah what^^^^ said, it doesnt seem like you searched at all.

I agree with the above answers to you question, too little information on the specific engine your talking about as well as no information on the driving habits of the drive or the maintenance which has or hasn't been done to it. But all things being equal with regular general maintenance and adult driving. It is as reliable as any engine.

Its all good man, thats pretty much what Im running on my 92 talon tsi, and like I said 188k on her. Just make sure you maintain it and it can last you the entire time you own it. What kind of oil are you using and how many miles are you changing it and how many miles on it now?
EDIT***Oh yeah what ^^^said, how do you drive it? redline shifts or audult like driving such as nice smooth shifting at around 3k rpm's?When you drive it about how much time is in city and how much on highway? Also is your engine tuned properly?

Mine has 240k on the odometer and would be doing great if the oil pump gear hadn't decided to eat the timing belt. A rebuild later and it is running stronger than ever.

158,673 miles. the mile after that will cause the engine to blow up.

Actually, the technical correct answer to this is 158,673.2648. ;)

In all seriousness, though.....Basically just what everyone else said. Take good care of her, and she'll take good care of you :thumb:

263,000 miles and counting. Head has never been off, original valve seals (have to be bad), all original internally. Stock engine with 16G. Still gets the same mileage it did when it was new. Uses 1 qt oil/1000 miles.

This is the dumbest question i have ever seen. How long will my 91 ford festiva last me???LOL, anyways change the oil do your maintenance and she'll treat you right.

95' GSX had 195,000+ mile stock when I had it redone inside and out! Was told by the fellow who is doing the work for me that the engine was in good shape when he tore it all down! As already stated, keep the oil changed and take car of it and it'll provide you with a lot of miles!

Also turbo engines don't seem to last as long because chances are before you got your car atleast 1 or 2 noobs railed the hell out of it.

dont rag it too much and it wont be a problem. my friend drove his DSM like there is no tommorow for the last 35k miles and its lasting still, with good compression numbers. i know it seems rare on a DSM, but if the engine was properly broken in and you maintain it, it will last you.

i usually have to rebuild my bottom or top end every 5000 to 9000 miles
Maybe you need to find someone else to build your motors for you then.

I would worry more about the suspension/components failing than the damn motor. 4g63 motors are tough little 4 bangers along with the transmission (though notchy as hell), they'll run fine as long as you don't abuse it.

From my experience the motor is too strong for the suspension, I don't know how many times I've had to take the damn car in for a alignment issue.
