How is big turbo spool before and after GM MAFT install?

people say that the one of the main reasons why they upgrade to the GM MAFT is for faster spool. Well, for those who have done this, can you add some feedback on how much faster it actualy spools up?
If you have a bigger turbo then a b16g then your input is needed. Hopefully we'll get some people that have before and after feedback with a 50trim and bigger turbos.

Please specifify:
your turbo
any porting work
howmuch faster in rpm is the spool
and some other general impressions

any takers?

i have a 50 trim. i had the maf-t setup and noticed no difference except that tuning became a bi*** so i took it off and am running just the 2g mas now. maf-t is for people that wanna vent mainly.

It became a b**** even if you zero everything out? What kind of stuff are you tunning with? and what inj?
 
Yeah you most likly just weren't using it the right way. If you know what you're doing with the maft translator and logger(Cause you need a logger).. Then it will work great. Just like an safc, Without the blinky blinky bling bling screen...

So is tuning with a SAFC a no-no or something?? People used piggy backs like the SAFC to get into the 10s before I even had my drivers license. Buschur went 8s in the 1/4 using a piggy back before I knew the first damn thing about a 4g63.
 
Initial spool up occurs when airflow rates are relatively low. There is negligable pressure drop until about 4000 rpm, then it ramps up to a peak at 5000-7000 rpm. To see a difference in spool up you need to be spooling in the 4000-5000 rpm band to see a gain. Now, high rpm respool during shifting MIGHT benefit from removing the MAF, since most peoples shifts put them back around 4500-5000 during a race.

I myself saw ZERO difference either way, both on my initial spoolup and respool. Actually, with my funky VPC throttle lag, I got into boost FASTER with a 2g MAF then with a straight 4" pipe and a VPC between gear shifts.

stock 2g mas is good upto about 400hp. It will handle a 50trim with no problem. there has to be other issues that he is having. What are they? any other ideas? How do you guys use your MAFT? How do you position the adjustments? Let me rephrase that. What kind of a roll does the maft play in your tuning. This question is for everyone, not just 1fast97gsx
