I have a fwd and for that reason i know i will never be the fastest car . So im not looking to spend 10k but i would liek to smoke thsoe stupid camaros and stuff on the highway. With my current mods i can already keep up and sometimes pull ahead untill like 135 becasue many of them have no spead resrictor. Has anyone with liek 620 or 650's on an safc made it past 150 with a stock ecu? I know an safc and new injectors can change the fuel cut a bit but not sure how much 1mph, 2mph, 10mph. Yes i know ishoudl socet ecu and go dsmlink but it jsut seems a little spendy. Whats the fastest nayone here has gone with out dsmlink. O yea after my current mods i plan on getting an walbro 255, as large as injectors as i cna control with safc, and new aem fuel rail. Anyone know any quality chips that work. Or anything that will help me to increase my top speed. Thanx and before some gets all pissed because i didnt search i did. I just wanna know fastwest anyone has gone with out dsmlink and if someone has a peice of equipment that works very well.

When i did my AWD conversion i also did the ECU speed limiter resistor mod. I am now able to go 168MPh now where before the mod i was only able to go 137mph. Anyway if your good with soldering than you can just add a 10k resistor in to R255 on your ECU circuit board. Anyway do this at your own risk.

what turbo do you have? are you still using the stock t25? if so, the afc and ecu are not your problems. your problem is in your head, you DO NOT race a nearly stock dsm to those speeds. get good tires, a front lip kit, better suspension, a well designed wing, etc before you try going over 130 on a public road. and, because you're on a public road, get some REALLY good brakes.
better yet, sell your dsm and buy a cavalier; with a mentality like that, you don't deserve a car with the kind of capabilities that yours has

my friends 95 GST has a 14b... hes got no problem playing with some camaros and mustangs on the highway...

Hey out there i have the vr4 brakes in the garage jsut not on yet and within next week or 2 i will have all suporting mods for my evo3 just have decided how big of injectors and stuff yet thats only thign holding me back. Your right i dont have suspension but i wil in the spring hopefully and who said i was planning on toping 140 tomorrow. You should always mod your car with a goal and my goal is 160 top speed since i am front wheel highway will be my place of choise to race.

hmmm my GVR4 goes up to 140 pretty quick on the highway...

for an evo 16g i ran 680cc injectors and they were perfect...

nope VPC/GCC combo i had an safc2 to use but never hooked it up to replace the GCC...

putting an aem in my car as we speak though.....

Hey...if you're stupid enough to try and top out our DSM at 160+mph on a public road then why not invest in a roll cage why you're at it???

- for real tho, I think that if you plan on using injectors as big as 680cc's, tuning will be much easier with DSMLINK. It's a little pricey compared to an safc, but I'm sure in the long run it could only work out for the better. My last bit of advice is that the only other thing I can think of you would need to run at top speeds would be Z-rated tires...If you're running on stock rubber than I guess you will get to learn firsthand what it feels like to hit the guard rails at 150mph...Hello Mr. Vegetable

id also reccomend racing classes.... i took some no matter how old you are go :)
well worth the $250 +

I'd recommend taking the car to the track and racing for real instead of playing around like a kid on the highway, putting other people in danger, I would say yourself, but I'm not too concerned with you if you're dumb enough to be "street racing". Be a man, take it to the track.

Wow....

But anyways to answer your question.

An S-AFC is capable of making mucn more power than you need to top out your DSM, but the only way you can do that is to remove the speed limiter.

Be a man?? I don't think it makes you any less of man wanting to use your thousands of hard earned and invested money more than two runs MAYBE once a weekend. That's like tellin a guy that went out and bought a dodge Viper not to drive bast 65 cause that's the sped limit. He's gonna laugh at you and speed off doing 120 in his 100k+ car. But anyway yeah if you have a eprom ecu I would just get a custom keydriver chip and use that in conjuction with your afc and you will go plaenty fast :thumb:

grow up. since when does going 2.5x the speed limit on public roads make anyone a man? when he plainly does not have the tools to go as fast as he wants, let alone the intelligence to use them properly.
quote your prices correctly
http://www.dodge.com/viper/index.html?context=vehiclePage&type=vehicleLink
that was really hard to open dodge's site and click on "viper"
more than likely, when the guy in the viper is caught going 100+, he's going to get less severe treatment than the guy on the dsm (that's another can of worms, but we all know it's the truth), and he can afford to pay the nasty fines. perhaps my advise to him was also looking out for his financial security?

Listen you wanna throw your option out there PM the guy didn't ask you if you thought it was ok him going fast or even what you think about ppl going fast in general. If you wanna aswer his question knock yourself out and actually contribute to the site if not then just don't post

I def think that your being a smart a$$ nit pickin on how much a viper realy cost.

4. No getting off-topic - if you're not replying to the thread starter's original post, take it to PMs/email or start a new thread

While I am guilty of this too this will be my last off topic post but last time i checked this forum is not about the morailty and intelligence of driving fast on the road. It's about how far a safc will take the poster in his quest to smoke v8's on the highway.

To the original poster I apoligize for takin away from your topic and def good luck to you which ever way you decide to go. :thumb:

Thanx slippi also yeah i have done my share of street racing but no one says i go top my car out on the road. All i asked is how far it can bring me. I plan to go evo 3 and 650cc and the fuel set up. I just wanted to know if new injectors and stuff would let me go over 140 or if there was no way to do it with out dsmlink or a stand alone system.

Going that fast on any public road is just stupid. With that said:

You are confusing fuel cut with the ECU's speed governor. At a predetermined airflow mass the ECU will cut the fuel entering the combustion chamber. An SAFC-II and larger injectors are used to "push back" the onset of fuel cut. The SAFC-II alters the airflow signal before it enters the ECU, showing the ECU less air than is actually entering the motor. So, although you might be over the ECU airflow limit for fuel cut, the ECU is receiving lower than actual airflow and doesn't cut the fuel.

The speed governor is dictated by, well duh, speed. It has nothing to do with airflow and therefor will not be altered by the SAFC-II :thumb:
