how fast should stock turbo Talon go?

This is going to sound very silly, but what kind of gas do you have where you are? If your car is making 14.7 PSI, knocking randomly, and you feel like you are losing power, then the computer might be REALLY pulling the timing back because of bad gas. Try finding some 93 octane gas using the RON/2 method, and a can of octane booster. And the EGR insufficent flow just means that your EGR valve (pushed exhaust gas into the intake for better emmisions) is getting clogged. That means that your throttle body is probably pretty dirty too. Look up on vfaq.com on how to clean the EGR valve and throttle body.

hi, you are right about the gas, it IS kind of "not so good" around here. It actually comes from Russia and their quality standards may be not so good. The octane numbers are E95 and E98 but I am not sure they are calculated the same way you have in the US. I am using our 98 but in the reality it might be sometghing similar to your 91:/
also thanks for the info about the EGR I will check it out.
I would be really happy if anyone could tell me their timing readings from their logging programs. like how much it reads when standing idle and how much if doing 60 on the highway etc. thanks

On the logger at idle the timing should be around 7 to 10 degrees. On the freeway, holding a steady speed at about 60 mph the timing should be around 25 to 35 degrees.

Your pulling timing. At that pressure your turbo is doin a great job... your knocking which indicates a leam mix. This could point to injectors, cam timing, feul filter, feul pump, ignition timing. I had the same issue in my 1g and the problem was I played with my adjustable cams and didnt think to reset my timing. It needs to be a 5deg b4 TDC!! When you check your timing remember you need to ground a couple connectors to disable the CPU in order to have correct timing. I fixed it and now I am running a steady 16psi, stompin on M3's, and lightin up my tires in third again... FWD... traction is my issue. Before it seemed every time I boosted it would just rev up high with no pull... had less power than my buddys camry :O Good luck!!

I wonder if you don't have some type of exhaust restriction like maybe a partially plugged cat? Just a thought.

Just wondering are you new to Manual Trans? I just went out and did 2 runs with you method (but I had somebody else time) and I got 5.9 the first run ad 5.7 the second with mostly stock setup

and to Ryan86 5K?? what and burn all the way through first (Ya That's real smart and it will definitely lower you times......Not!)

thanks man, there is obviously something wrong with my car.
I wonder if there is a chance that my timing belt is 1 tooth off?? How would such a car behave??

ok guys, If you want an answer to this question above then you should ask ME!
The timing belt is wayy off... I mean not one tooth or something.. no-no-no! its more like three tooths man! I know I'm stupid for not checking it out first but seriously I am far-far away from being an mechanic and everyone starting from local Mitsu service to local top rally teams guys never bothered to check it out either all kept saying that if it would be even 1 tooth off the car would never run as good as it does, well guess what - they were wrong. The car runs like other normal cars and mabe even a little better, but has those problems I have described in this thread.( btw: I managed to pull 7,8 sec time with my carLOL
I will change the belt and all stuff associated to it as fast as I get the money to do it. Then I will post my new times:)
thanks for you all who helped me out, you are a great bunch of guys here at DSMTuners

thanks.

WTF? I'm not too sure what that's all about, but after I bought my used GS-T in October, I was able to pull off a [email protected] run bone stock so.....I guess a AWD would be just a bit faster than that. :thumb:
