How exactly is the sunroof supposed to sit?

I noticed my sunroof is seated slightly lower in the back than the front, which is flush with the body. It just started leaking a little, which I have to re-fix.
After replacing the entire sunroof I realized that my leaks were a result of the entire body being slightly tweaked due to the previous owner's accident(s), so I simply smeared some black silicone adhesive on the opposite corners of the body (luckily my car is black) where the water was entering and checked the seal with a flashlight from underneath. This held for over six months, and the sunroof was still operable, but after this horrendous winter I sprung a leak again and have to reapply adhesive. Sooo, I want to know how exactly the sunroof is supposed to sit. Flush with the body all around? Slightly (1mm or so) higher? Slightly lower? Pics would help!

Mine is sunken in a little bit. It should sit flat.

Is it leaking between the glass and the seal, or the seal and the body? I pulled the glass and put a bead of clear silicone around the glass because mine was leaking between the seal and glass. Getting it to seal against a messed up body may be harder.

No it's definitely between the seal and the body, so my remedy worked. Theoretically, should you even have to push the sunroof up slightly to tighten the nuts, or should it sit where it's supposed to before tightening? Mine is sunken a little without tightening, so I have to raise it, which is a PITA to get it perfectly even. I'm trying to figure out the best way to sit for the optimal seal. I've also noticed a slight vibration from the sunroof at high speeds or heavy wind, but I'm concerned that if it's too low it will allow water to accumulate.

Apart from a junk yard, were could one buy the seal/trim that goes around the sunroof window?

My sunroof has been the bane of my existence, it sits low, vibrates, leaks... I got sick of screwing with it and just tightened all the bolts with blue lock tight and used black silicone to seal the entire thing shut, so I guess its just a moon roof now.

I know you can order the sunroof weatherstrip from a few places, but I heard it's a bi*** to put on. Also, most of the time it's not the strip that's bad; the frame underneath is usually rusted and uneven from water seepage. Even after I got my replacement sunroof from the junkyard I still ran a bead of silicone around the inside of the strip, as well as where the inner metal frame meets the glass. It may not be aesthetically perfect but it's better safe than sorrrry
