Well i got a brand spankin new fp manifold that was coated some shiny silver chromy color and earlier today when i was removing a broken exhaust manifold stud i sprayed the area down with some PB blaster and like a jackass i forgot to clean up the manifold before starting the car. ONTOP of that the dipstick broke off on accident when i was tightening the studs so on the way home when i did one pull the stick popped out and sprayed the manifold with oil.

Now my fp manifold that looked new now looks like its been through hell and back, what i want to know is how do you remove burnt oil/pb blaster off the manifold im sure wiping with a dry rag wont do shit... brake cleaner perhaps ? or what ?

Thanks in advance

Oil is a pain to remove. From my experience the only way to really get it looking how you had it is to take it off, sand it down, and re-spray it. I havent been able to remove oil as if it was never there. Maybe someone else has an idea?

I know that you can't exactly spray any turbo manifold with bbq paint or something. The chromoly coating on your mani is called cermakrome..either you can have it refinished. OR try using ZIPPO fluid on a rag and elbow grease..Zippo fluid is the same chemical as naphta and doesn't harm paint but removes adhesives and grease very well. It's used to also debadge your car.

ps. check out DEI's titanium exhaust wrap. It can withstand approximately 2400 degrees fairenheit and reduces the engine bay temp by roughly 50%. That's huge for performance and cosmetically solves your burnt oil problem.

I've used engine de-greaser and a pressure washer. It's worked pretty well on valve cover leaks and such for me.

Well good news is that most of it burnt off with hard driving today on the way to and from school that when i got home i quickly took a rag while it was real hot and it wiped right off thankfully LOL
