Ive done some research and i cant find the difference between what a small 16g and a evoIII 16g looks like...

what distinguishes the EVO 16g from the small 16g... and is it worth uprgading from a small 16g to an evo 16g????

I just need to be able to tell what is the characeteristic on a evo 16g

Not a for sure way but the outlet side of the exhaust should be flared to 2.5" on a eIII while a regular 16g seems to be fairly straight through at 2".

so basically... teh best way to tell is to weigh it???
wel... the turbine housing flanges on the mannifold side and the o2 housing flange are round shaped compared to a 16G wich are straight
check www.slowboyracing.com and check the mitsubishi turbo's
the have some good comparisson pictures :thumb:

Yes. It's a worthwhile upgrade to go from a small 16G to an EVO. If you checked the pics you were referred to you saw tat the flange that bolts tothe exhaustmandold is not rectangular because of the larger inlet of the EVO so the flange had to curve out between the bolt holes to accomodate this larger inlet hole. mark

I never noticed that. I have an evo 16g sitting in the corner of my room. I got it from sbr. It has the rounded manifold inlet like the pic.
