How do I improve throttle response?

I haven't really done much to my TSi (auto) other than the free mods. But I've noticed my girl's Neon has better throttle response than my car. What is the biggest mod/mods to improve throttle response?

I have heard the KN filter is good. It was already done when I bought my car, so I can't vouch for that. However, my intercooler piping and intake definitely helped throttle response.

Yeah, I've heard a good cone filter will help. Thanks.

The other thing is you can adjust your throttle cable if you want "faster response". Dosen't improve performance tho.

how that? can you explain? my throttle response seems sluggish as well.

A GSX won't be feeling like a Neon. You're moving a lot more mass. And, hauling a lot more ass. Neons, Hondas, and most all the modern little travel toasters are set up to give a lot of oomph (technical term) down low, just where you're crossing the intersection. It's a nice way to tune street cars for non-racers, and makes them feel peppy for folks who never rev over 4K and believe completely that the engine will actually explode if the tach needle ever touches the red line, just like the bus in Speed.

As for adjusting the throttle, you loosen the screws holding the cable housing on the manifold and slide it back until there's no slack in the cable. Snug up the screws, then move the housing back toward the throttle so that you have just a little slack, then tighten the screws.

Does tightening the throttle cable actually help? Also, does it cause the idle speed to change at all? I'm probably going to do this if it's actually worth it. I hate having to put the peddle to the floor when I take off.

It'll just take the slack out of the throttle cable so that you don't have to put the pedal down further to compensate for the slack when you get on the gas. It shouldn't affect idle if you don't tighten it too far (and when you do it, it'll be obvious what too far is) and WOT is still WOT.

I had this problem so I decided to change the closed throttle sensor. It might be called something else in the manual. This made a huge difference.

Give me some more info. I'm looking for all the help I can get to help take care of this.

There is quite a few different things that will help throttle response:
- Cone Filter
- Intake Pipe
- Intercooler Piping
- Lightened or resurfaced flywheel
- 3"/2.5" Downpipe + Exhaust

In my car, a 3" downpipe and 3" exhaust improved it the most, followed by intake pipe.

FSM calls it the "Closed throttle position switch". Which is contained within the 4 wire TPS sensor located on the radiator side of throttle body. 1G's are physically separate from TPS

If your 2G is stock throttle body then read this to set/check TPS and idle switch for proper operation.

Scroll to the very bottom. You will need a multimeter to do this properly, any $10 harbor freight will do.

Just go with what everyone else says. I don't have much experience in what to do first yet. But from looking from the posts on this thread a K&N filter would be your best bet.
