My deal is this..when I want to use the e-brake I have to take it up all the way, almost 90 degrees so it points straight up in the sky in order to lock it properly....how do I adjust this??

not sure about 2G's but on the 1G's there is a screw which controls the distance the lever goes and it is under the center console. not sure about yours though.

hmm went to take a look...and I think I found it...dont have any tool at my house though, and I think it is smaller than a 10mm....

And if that doesn't work it might be time for new shoes for the drum in disk parking brake.

I would check the shoes before I started adjusting anything. As Steve pointed out it could be time for new shoes. Shoes get old and brittle causing them to fall apart. Most people are VERY quick to adjust the cable but I've really never seen a response where any ever bothered to even check the parking brake shoes. Also... don't snatch up on the parking brake. That stretches the cable.

those brake pads are stupid simple to change. just pull the caliper bolts and swap the old ones out. While you're at it lube the caliper pins and pack some fresh grease in the hub bearings. DONT MESS UP THE SEAL!! its not available other than buying a new hub bearing ~70 dollars.

we talking about the same thing? I only ask because it shows you drive a 1G and your talking about caliper bolts. The parking brake on an 2G rear disk and on the 3KGT and Stealths is a drum in disk setup. And from what I've seen you have to pull the rear hub just to get at the parking brake shoes. If there is a simple trick to changing them I'd love to know so I can stop procrastinating.

sorry I thought he was working on a 1G. It has a cable pulling a lever on each rear caliper. 2Gs have a drum behind the disc??

Is there any up and down play in the e-brake handle while its down? I just tightened the nut up with my fingers until I could get a wrench on it.
You don't want it any tighter than you can get it with your fingers.

And don't try any Rockford turns with a DSM. The brakes will hate you in very expensive ways.
