I looked at the engine today to find out why my headlights are dim and brightening like strobe lights slightly..i looked and saw that my dipstick handle also broke off and seemed to be sliding intside of the the tube that it goes in...WHY would this happen? The only thing I did recently was get a new alternator put in and put on a crushed 1g bov recirculated. Any thoughts? cars -vac is at 19-20 and boost is at 15psi, so that seems normal.

The plastic handle on the dipstick gets old and can sometimes break for no reason. I had it happen to me before on an old 2g I had.

Not cool man, hit up ExtremePSI and they'll hook you up. Remember my thread? haha

The plastic handle on my dipstick also broke. I just went to the junkyard and pulled a metal handled one from a 1g.

The constant heat cycling and oil vapors just kill the plastic.

1G and 2G sticks are swappable? Same length?

Yep they are the same length. I melted my plastic one and got a 1g metal one from the junkyard, held them next to each other and they are the same.

Also I wouldn't leave the broke off dipstick in there. I have seen dipsticks on other cars wrap around the crank.

just ordered a dipstick new from mitsu, only 18 bucks no biggie...jj what are you talking about? what happened in your thread with what? I think i realized i may have weakened the handle when i may have bumped it taking out the rad fan.

I've gone through 3 dipsticks in the past year of owning my Talon. I made the mistake of buying the 2g dipstick, and two of them snapped off right after the metal stick ended. I would go with the 1g dipstick, like the above posters have mentioned.

^^^^^thats not healthy LOL. you can get a brand new one from the dealer for like around $18. or just go with one from a 1g:thumb:

I meant that I also had a broken dipstick when I first bought it man.
