... what do you think about it? I mean nowadays, when we have a lot of EVO, STi, 350z, etc. around... :)
a) OK, let's say GSX with ~300hp as its competitors + better suspension
b) I'm talking only about real racing, I mean track, slalom > wheres handling is important

Of course u know that all depends on many things such as a "driver mod" but in all fairness i don't see why it wont make for a good challenger. Where as the EVO and STI were developed for such and came with things such as ACD and Yaw control the gsx still has a chance.

I have a Z and a 91 awd(yet again!
I think the Z will out handle those 3 at high speed corners, 90mph+
At lower speeds it seems like I have absolutely no traction at more than half throttle. The Z is a really nice car, not exactly fast, but it does handle very well.

With 300hp I'm sure you will have the advantage as long as you have nice suspension setup.
Hell, you can spool in a corner FFS!

Just do a lot of suspension work, and do it right. On a 1G GSX, make sure to replace the half-rubber portion of the rear control arms with SS inserts with Heim joints, or fab up the arms directly with the joints if you know how. For all years, stiffen the rear up as much as possible. Until you start oversteering, don't stiffen the front at all. I laugh at idiots in FWD cars with front strut tower bars, bitching about how they understeer and can't understand why... and they just slapped on the STB for looks.

Upgraded rear sway bar (not the front, at least until you've balanced the handling and start stiffening all around), lighten the front as much as possible (Battery relocation to the trunk, A/C delete, CF hood, etc) to get the car balanced as much as you can.
These cars CAN be made to outhandle quite a bit on the road. But they aren't going to do it in stock trim... they plow badly until you start doing a lot of well-researched suspension work on them.
