I found some non turbos 1g's with alot missing under the hood(including motors) at the junkyard today and the proportion valve and lines look really good in one. The question is, how can I tell if was a non abs car?(doing abs delete)

I would look for wheel sensors, if they're there. (IIRC, they should be visable.)

A non-ABS car will not have this (the thing circled in red in the attached pic) in front of the battery tray.

when you say 4 fittings, are you refering to the # of lines running from the proportioning valve, because I traced 1 line to the passanger and 1 line to the driver, 2 went under the car and 2 to the cylinder. They dont have to be awd do they?

This is the one you want. Whatever car you found that on. The two that go under the car obviously go to the rear calipers.

I dunno about them having to be AWD or not.

Its not there, but it seems like there was something there before because its a braket there(like someone might have removed it). Or is that bracket on all the 1gs

If you found a car that has brake lines going directly from the distribution block to the calipers then get the parts off that car.

From what you described in post #4 that is the car you want to pull the parts off of.

Do your best to get the lines too if you can. They are a son of a bi*** to make. I did a ABS elim on my GGSX, and I didn't have any parts. I used the existing porp valve and lines. I just ran line from the mc to a "tee fiting" from there one went to a front caliper, and the porp valve.

Ok when I go back tomorrow and look at the proportioning valve, should there be 2 lines coming from the front on the valve(looking at mine, its seems lines wont fit in the front), and 2 on each side and none on the bottom?

The following picture shows exactly where things go. It is not to scale, nor is it an accurate representation visually. But it get the idea across.

The line will go DIRECTLY from the the Reservoir->Valve->Calipers. No detours.

I don't think it will matter. And I don't know off the top of my head. I just tried to look at mine but it's dark out, and it looked like they might. But I couldn't really see.

I don't see why the valve already on your car won't work as long as you get the non-abs brake lines to go from the valve to the calipers.

Someone may want to confirm that.

Anybody know if a fwd vavle will work on awd?

Just thinking about this, and I would say no. I remember reading that the proportional valve on AWD models with the two piston front calipers is different. I believe it fits, but would give a bigger front brake bias.

Also, like I said before, wouldn't checking for wheel speed sensors be a way to tell if the car had ABS? And I imagine there must be stickers under the hood or somewhere on the car.

Wheels, stickers, hood, all that stuff is gone. Im suprised no one grabed the valve and brake lines(they look ment). I can just stand in the engine bay and pull them off, that why it seems to good to be true LOL. I want to make sure this stuff will work.

Yes, looking for wheel speed sensors would tell you if it has abs or not.

And use the valve on your car already as long as the non-abs brake lines will hook up.

Yes they are fine

It will not work! He needs the 6x prop valve.

Would my valve work, because Ive read it has to be changed too? and the reason why I would have to use non abs brake lines is because of the bends?
NO!

You can basically grab ANY 6way prop valve from ANY car. I have used them from freakn mazda without any issues.

Also get NEW brake lines, they are infinitly better because they are A. new and B. very easy to bend----get 4x of them as the you reuse the rear lines but need new lines from the front wheels and the master cylinder

Looking at the link above, this 6x prop valve don't have lines going to the middle. If the prop valve I'm looking at has 6x, but 2 lines in the middle(not running out the corners) will it work too.

Exactly what I needed to know......thanks a lot to all

Now that Ive got the info that I need, I went back and picked up the proportioning valve and brake lines. Heres the pics. Got them and the non cruise control cable for 30 bucks.:hellyeah:
