I bought a 95 gs-t, didn't come with head or any information but can tell the valves bent from markings on pistons. So before i go out and buy a head i would like to see if the pistons will still work. How would i go about moving them manually??

Thanks a lot

The only way to move the pistons while they're still in the block is to turn the crank. To do that you have to get a 1/2" socket wrench. down on the very bottom most part of the motor you will see a big pully. This is the pully that is connected to the crank it is a.k.a a harmonic balancer. You will see a spot to put the wrench in. Insert the wrench and turn away. This can work to get you to Top Dead Center (TDC) or just move the pistons around. If it doesnt work then the motor is probably frozen up. Hope this helps :dsm: :talon: :laser:

There is a pulley on the bottom of the engine with a nut on it pretty tight.

Jack up the car and put it on stands of course.

Get a wrench or socket over the nut and turn it(while the transmission is in neutral).

I'm pretty sure that's the easiest way to get it done, could be an easier one though.

Ok cool. Thanks guys

One more question. Should i oil up the pistons before doing this? Im not sure how long the car has been sitting but probably a while.

theres a little bit of rust in the first cylinder but its definatly cleanable. Being an Arizona car the rust does not get very bad

Jack up one front wheel, put it in gear and turn the wheel.... so long as it's not an automatic.

wont that put force on the other wheel to spin the other way and screw up the pistons?

you might want to take out the plugs too, it'll make it easier so you don't have to do the compression stroke manually.
