Hello fellow DSMers....
I just bought a flywheel bolt kit and thought everything will be ok from there... well....NOPE!!! I am only able to tighten 5 bolts out of seven going into the crank....found out the hole is STRIPPED. (NOT BY ME) but the previous owner didn't tighten the flywheel bolt to specs.. and yea... all seven bolts snapped. For the two screws that didn't screw in... I was wondering will it be ok to just get a tap kit for the two bolts and use some lock rite on the bolts. I going one size up with bolts... which are half inch... I used a calibrator on the stock flywheel bolt and they measure at 12mm.
But my question is .... has anybody did this and do you think that will be ok without taking the bottom end out my engine and replacing the crank? I know the flywheels bolts are a grade 11 but I don't know if the crank is a harden metal?
