I have a 95tsi awd 5spd 112k miles on it. Almost stock. Got the car with evo 8 bov, lightweight flywheel and stage2 clutch. First thing i did was a BLT, fixed the shaft seals and biss o-ring and since then, no boost leaks. I put an intake to the turbo but no IC pipes. I turned the boost up a little to 14psi. Just got some new ngk wires last night and replaced ngk plugs about 200miles ago so they are new. what can i add on to my car to get just a little more power out of it, without having to break the bank. I have a box with a few parts left over still but nothing that will really add much power i think. I have new 3g lifters still in the box, blitz bov and a walbro 255 pump. i know that a exhaust will probobly really open my car up but kinda expensive... any more cheap bolt on mods that i can do for CHEAP to get a few hp?????

Exhaust dont haft to break the bank. go buy a cheap muffler off ebay and then go to a muffler shop and have then weld up some pipes. You Could probably get it done for 100$. Thats what im doing right now

Exhaust system for sure. Also, you might try adding the 255 pump. Im not 100% sure it will do anything without a tune though. Maybe add the 3g lifters (yeah i know, big project.) but im sure it will quiet up the engine bay, and probably even add some power.

I would say an intake manifold but that would only be signifigant if you have work done to you car. I would say full exhaust...up the boost a little more (seeing as you already up'd the boost im guessing you have a boost controller) rewire your fuel pump which is free and get a walbro190 and youll get your hp
I wouldnt do 255 fuel pump, thats just gonna cost him more money for a fuel pressure regulator. 190 should suit his needs for a while.
Even without a tune you will have noticably more power. tuning will just make you get the most out of it, I would save the tune for when you go into a little higher hp.....if you dont plan on going into higher hp than go ahead and tune but that will cost you some bucks

Not really all that hard at all. Don't even need to take cams out while putting in new lifters. Just need a pry bar and sturdy flat head screwdriver. Turn the cams so the lobes are up on which ever lifter you want to replace. Pry the rocker off, take out old lifter, put in new one. Pop the new rocker on with the screwdriver. Took me a couple hours to do intake and exhaust. Everything worked fine. There is a FAQ on how to do that floating around somewhere.

OP, exhaust will help and can be done for cheap. I would say to get that done so you free any restrictions you have, but to really gain that much with bolt ons, you'll need fuel and a tune to raise the boost higher.

Intake manifold is not needed. Stocker can handle 500hp. He is at 15psi on stock fuel, that's the safe limit before running way lean and fubaring his motor. Fuel pump rewire is NOT free, as it costs money to aquire wire, crimps, relay and soldering equipment if you don't have it. The saying goes, "Do it right, buy it once" so with that there, it's worth it to get the 255 and regulator because if he plans on going bigger, he won't need to get another pump. The AFPR is ALWAYS good to have with an upgraded pump. Even the 190 can benifit from the AFPR. So throw in that 255 you have once you get an AFPR.

I don't see where you are getting "Even without a tune you will have noticably more power"? You could have bolt on's capable of giving 500hp but without tunning, you'll either run like crap, be close to stock still or blow something up. You NEED to tune. "Save the tune for when you go into a little higher hp"??? Tuning now will allow him to get better numbers. His biggest beneficial HP gain after freeing up the exhaust will be a TUNING program regardless of having fuel pump or injectors. Being able to tune will allow him to squeeze out every ounce of power he has with his current setup and will continue to do that when he get's more parts down the road.

Take that for what it's worth, but the best upgrade or rather a starting point for HP is fuel and tuning. Without either, you won't be able to do much of anything.

Some APC stickers. Maybe some neon lights underneath. Big ### wing. That should put you over 425 at the wheels.

The OP was asking a serious question and your comment was not needed at all.

That is pretty much what I said in the first place, If he doesnt plan on making higher hp he wont need the 255 and since hes on a budget i said just go with the 190. My mistake, your right, fuel pump rewire isnt free but compared to the price of getting a 255 AND a fuel regulator it is VERY economical. I also said he wont need a intake manifold....i just threw it out there so he knows if he does go to higher hp it will benefit him. As far as the tune goes you basically restated what I said but cleared things up a bit. He wont NEED a tune but it will be benificial to really get what he wants out of it. I know it is only right to get a tune when you do work to it but I am saying he still will see gains if he doesnt have the money to do a tune at that point and if thats the case he can turn the boost down a little. I am not going against you in any way....you made some very good points especially on the tuning to not damage your motor and im sure I can learn a thing or two from you but I'd rather not post at all than post wrong information so I try. Thanks for clearing that up anyway :)

Sorry I dont mean to drift off topic.....but to sum it up I would do the tune and if you dont have the money for it after your done working on it than just save for it before you do any work.

Just save some money. you are not gonna see real noticable differences from an exhaust and things. get the money and get injectors, afpr, your, 255, s-afc, boost gauge, and from there you can get a 14b or something and turn the boost up a little. just my .02. GL
and
"Some APC stickers. Maybe some neon lights underneath. Big ### wing. That should put you over 425 at the wheels. "
i thought it was pretty funny liquidx

Im sorry DaltonDSM but you WILL SEE differences going to a full exhaust and things. If you can manage to rig up a 3" exhaust all the way to the tail then do it, and as above mentioned, you can do it for under 200.

Regarding the fuel pump, think about this guys, he already has a 255. So all of you telling him to go get a 190, that is nearly enough money to just get an AFPR and just install the 255. So knowing that, Original Post, keep an eye out for a good deal on an Adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulator so that you can install your 255.

Do NOT buy an aftermarket intake manifold with your setup, its overkill and will never see the benefits with only a t-25. If you can find a good condition 14 b for cheap, under 100, then go with it. It has alot more potential than the t-25 your currently running.

Finally, if you dont have a boost gauge, please get one now, you need it when playing with boost. If you have a few bucks extra, at this point you are going to want an SAFC to adjust your tune a little bit.

Hope all this helps and Good Luck.

Bull Sh t. You will for sure notice a difference with a full 3 in turbo back exhaust over that stocker. Its like the one mod i would say made the biggest difference aside from a turbo upgrade.

If all you want is 30 hp get a 3in turbo back exhaust. Turn your boost up to about 15 psi and maybe replace your stock intercooler piping with hard. You will be happy. If you want more then that then get into the other things these guys are saying like fuel pumps and injectors an tuning systems

If he has an EPROM ECU, IMO an SAFC is a waste of money. Learn how to tune the car the right way and skip the SAFC, which costs more that a chip burner or emulator anyways.

I would agree with you if it wasnt for one thing... He wants an extra 30 hp or so on a budget. Going out and buying an Eprom Ecu and the tuning software is going to cost him a bundle. Youre right, it will give him the best tune, but it doesnt seem like he is making a race car, just a slightly modded daily driver.

Ther are FREE tuning programs out there as long as you have the right tools and knowlage to use them.

My mistake LiquidX, but i would still go with an SAFC for ease of use and cost to purchase. That is, i would go SAFC in this persons case, not in all cases. used safc 80 bucks, eprom ecu, maybe triple?

a 3" exhaust and some extra boost will give you 30hp for sure. i would get an eeprom ecu, some bigger injectors, and an afpr to put your 255 in. then you know that you are safe fuel-wise.
