How bad is this clutch disc?

Never seen a worn clutch disc before ( LOL) ... Im thinking this one is toast, but I really have no idea. Any idea if I can squeeze any more out of this disc? Or does that wear pattern mean Im totally ####ed, and there is something going wrong in there?

Has a lot of meat on it still but I'd be worried it would break up more under stress. You can get a replacement disk from XTD for 50 to 70$.

^ All I see are 6 pucks. And Id be kinda wary of a product that costs half as much as most peoples organic discs..

Well, in my opinion, that '100 mile' disk is going to frag. It's going to be unbalanced to begin with and if you ever see 7k rpms I think it's going to explode due to the vibrations. Worst case scenario (and this is WORST), it takes out your bell housing AND tears up your main bearings due to being unbalanced and spinning at high speed and then coming to an abrupt stop as it wedges against something right before it explodes... I think your original disk is a far better candidate to limp around on until you can afford a proper replacement. I wouldn't use the other disk for anything other than a paper weight or an example of what not to use.

^Haha. Yeah I doubt it would make it through the bellhousing the way it is cracked, but ya never know.

Ill just see if I can get my money back for it. And next time meet someone indoors when its raining outside LOL.

Size and velocity are only part of it, a .22 doesn't have a very large bullet but I still don't want one hitting me... I didn't mean that the entire disk would come flying off like a saw blade but that the disk would shatter and the various pieces would destroy your bell housing. It's why NHRA requires scatter shields as well, those pieces have been known to punch up through the sheet metal INTO the driver!

honestly I would'nt use either one, they both look like they would be out of balance.
I have a 6 puck in my car and it was a daily driver until something else broke, I would hate to pull up to something I KNOW would be a good race, and loose.... because I put a worn, cheap, or clutch that just don't handle the power you'r now making.
Or come across a GREAT deal on performance parts, and have to pass because you don't feel like over powering you'r clutch and replacing it yet again...

Guys... He's using the car to deliver pizzas. It's his work car. You don't keep your job at say... Dominoes (don't know which one he works for and it doesn't matter) by sporting their logo on top of their car, WITH PHONE NUMBER, and racing people on the street! He needs the car to run so that he can use it for work. If he was already making a gazzillion hp and had unlimited funds then yes it would suck to have to pass on a performance part but then again, he wouldn't be sweating a new replacement disk would he?

The cardinal rule for DSM's is maintenance first, then upgrade. It does you no good to have a 800awhp monster if you're wheel bearings are shot and the cords are showing on your tires. I've seen guys (Mustang) run 10's with a stock replacement clutch that he used on the 100 mile trip to the track, and then home, then to work every day. Stock clutch is fine, you just can't side step it at the line and you have to be careful with your shifts so you don't scorch it. The pressure plate is what holds it in place against the flywheel to transfer power and is far more important in a performance application (which this isn't!). Multi puck disks are for more drag oriented, not street driving cars. No one would recommend a twin disk setup for a daily commuter car even if some people can and have done it, it's just not realistic.

Yeah I dont race this thing. Ive taken it down the track twice. And hell no I dont work at Dominoes LOL. I just like the "pep" pulling out into traffic and merging on the highway...been delivering pizzas in it for the past 60 thousand miles without a hitch haha. Except when the TOB went out early this year. But that was the previous owners fault...

I was driving on that first clutch for the past 50k and didnt notice anything wrong with it. Engaged fine, was quiet, easy to press...clamped down alright. So I think I will put it back in. I only need it to last me till the end of summer or so. I will be done with school then and hopefully I can get a real job :D Then its time to give this thing the treatment it deserves.
