Edmonton,
well we just got a big dump of snow here about 2 weeks ago and i've been doing a buncha mini drifts around corners if you wanna it that. Just wondering if im going to break something doing this or if the car can handle it... thanks

Shouldn't i do the same in rain. Just don't slam off rev limit constantly. Watch for curbs or cars you should be fine.

Its always fun to play in the snow. It all depends on how well you have maintained your car as to weather or not it will handle it. If you are scared of something happening, then don't do it. I would advise you not do it on a public road either, you may have control over your car but you cant control others being in your way or a kid shooting down a street on a sled as you take that next turn.

yeah im really careful about where i do it. I have a nice lil triangle outside my house with no one on it usually and besides that just parking lots with medians to go around. thanks for the info

Ahh, snowblind. I love the winter playground. It's all fun and games until you find yourself going down a 40%grade on a sheet of ice, all 4 wheels spinning backwards and your still going straight down the mountain..
haha just be careful where you go! I've seen just a couple roads turn to ice in the mountains when the rest appear to be snow and just fine.
BTW, I ended up flying off the side of the road and into a "ditch". A rock about half the size of my car stopped me. Only damage done was a couple scratches to my front bumper.

so lucky

don't hit a dry spot, a curb, or someone else. all those will stop you dead in your tracks. i wish it would have snowed more last year because i had a lot of fun with my car. hopefully this year will be better.

If you lent your car to a friend, would you want them driving it like that?

So why would you think it's okay for you to.

Cars are just inanimate lumps. But they treat you the way you treat them.

Would I do this? --> I have done some sliding on a flat section of private property on a few occassions. Would I approve of someone else doing this in my car ... well I don't even like letting other people drive my car to begin with! It's alright for him to do it since he's the one to pay the bills in order to get it fixed should anything bad happen.

I live in Colorado and every year we have ice racing. Its up in the mountains on a frozen lake and you do time trials on a track. Get some good brakes, and studded tires and your set. Its crazy how much more the car can take racing in those temps with all the ice and snow everywhere. Its pretty fun, way better than track racing.

Sliding is fun. Me and my buddies go out to Miller Park (Milwaukee Brewers Stadium) and have a swell time. If you want to be cautious about breaking things, keep your revs under 4k and dont use the same spot over and over again. Some of your wheels grip whilst others dont. Find under 6 in. of snow too. You get stuck kind of with more than that. Happy sliding, be safe!!! Keep it in parking lots!

I know this has already been said but I am going to say it agian Don't hurt anyone including yourself.

this stuff is always fun. me and my friends do it when we ice fish, when the fish arent biting you need something to do haha

Doesn't that scare them off?
haha

[No, his friends are pretty brave.]

Do you catch any fish?!? haha, I'm just curious. I've always been rather quiet when I've gone ice fishing..

EDIT: Although I do remember hearing about some crazy guy who would stick his head in the hole and scream into it, supposidly attracting the fish... hahah

We usually have fun after fishing. I go fishing to relax so yes we are quiet. I caught a 5lb rainbow trout almost 22 inches. It took me like 10-15 min to get her on the shore. Also a buddy of mine caught a 40 inch Pike.
