How about another coilover thread?

I understand that I get sh*tty with people on this board becaue I get fed up with hearing the same bull sh*t replys over and over. I also appoligize for it because most of the time, it's uncalled for. But what on earth does your post have to do with anything I've said? You make is sound like I changed course with the topic or contridicted myself.

Are the replies bullsh*t because they simply are wrong or that they are not what you want to hear?

Since it's repeated over and over did it ever ocurr to you that perhaps there is some truth to what you keep hearing over and over?

You yourself said in your original post that coilovers are overkill for the average joe... then in another post you ask about the cheaper coilover kits.

No street only car is ever going to "need" what coilovers can offer. At issue is spending the money to do it right. As mentioned before, for a street only car, all that is needed is a good set of springs and shocks. Given that people will ask... if they can get the cheapest shocks and springs they can find on eBay, throw them on the car and call it good. Sure the car will drive, but will it drive well? Shock length and valving are the two crucial factors that determine ride and handling. The same is true of coilovers. Some people run out and buy a set of GC conversion kit after being told that they're good and then buy GR-2 shocks and throw 700 lb springs on them (because another person said that's the right rate) and expects everything to work well together. Plain stupidity. A car is more than a mere a collection of parts. It is a collection of parts that must work together in harmony. Change to one part affects the performance of another. The cheapest solution is almost never the best solution. Certain parts are cheap simply because they weren't no one would be sucker enough to buy them (99% of the crap on eBay).

You complain of the varied opinions in the forum and the non-definitive information it offers... but that's the way it is! Wise up... online forums are full of opinions... some of which are hearsay. It is entirely up to you to do the dirty work of sorting through the info, learn what you can from it and then apply what you learn to your specific application. If you want answers, you have to be willing to do the work to find those answers. No one will hand you the answers on a silver platter because we don't own your car, we don't drive the way you drive, and we don't know what you like.

You get sh*tty when you read the same stuff over and over... well, I get sh*tty when people ask the same thing over and over because they haven't heard what they wanted to hear.

If you don't like the fact that several people have answered exactly the question that you asked, then you should take that issue up with yourself and leave the rest of us out of it.

Exactly what he said.

Nice rant, that was just as helpful as "You get what you pay for." It still stands, I'm not looking for opinions, I'm looking for experiance. Why else read/post in anything but the hangout? With thousands of members I was hoping on finding maybe 5 (?) that had good product reviews. So far I got two (jtmcinder and the few on Apexi WS) and then the collection of people who love to voice there opinion through the internet, it wouldn't be a forum without you.

From now on I'll phrase all questions as simple as possible and make sure there's no confusion as to what I'm looking for.

Opinions can be generated based upon factual information as well as hearsay. Not all opinions are created equal, some are worth your attention. You just need to know whos opinions are based upon extensive knowledge on the subject. Why criticize people for posting their opinions when they're trying to help you? The same people who recommend the same setup over and over again, actually have experience with the setup. I don't understand why their experience doesn't qualify.

BTW, the person who recommended the apexi world sport said he had no first hand experience with them.

I don't have any first-hand experiences with them, but they're less than $1000, and they look pretty beginner friendly, and they meet 98spyder's criteria.
Why didn't you flame him? hmm

Well put.

For a street car all you need is a good set of shocks (Koni) and quality springs (not Eibach).

No need for coilovers. It's not like you're going to be changing the ride height up and down all the time. Unless you have a crush on the machanic who does your alignment or just likes to give him money.

Yes... for the beginners, every time you change suspension geometry (raise or lower) you have to re-align the wheels.

And I know it's not what you want to hear, but more often than not... you do get what you pay for.
