we recently added the maft , 3in gm,draw-thru to my friends 1g 90 gsx 5spd., we now have added the safc2 , we kept the base on the maft for 450cc injectors and zeroed out all the other maft knobs so we could start using the safc2 to fine tune, my question is in the setup of the safc, in the initial setup do we still set the safc2 for " Karmann" airflow type? even though we are now using the 3 in gm hotwire maf, do we select "Hotwire type" also my other question refers to the Dec.-Air( delcelleration air) on the afc

this is from the site http://members.shaw.ca/costall/1000Q/answers-SAFC.htm ( on bottom)

"The "Dec.-Air" setting stands for "decelleration air". It is true that this function is intended to allow cars to run properly when venting the blow-off valve (BOV) to atmosphere. It is not true that this works on DSMs; it only works on vehicles using a hot-wire mass airflow sensor, which DSM cars do not. Thus the "Dec.-Air" function has no function on DSMs."

( since we are technically using the hotwire maf now, could we modify this to vent the stock bpv, or just keep recirculating ( like we are normally), or not even bother-doesnt apply still.... just was curious on these few aspects of the safc2 in conjunction with the maft, thanx, john

Set it to karman style setting, what the translator does is convert what would be a hotwire maf single to a signal that the ecu sees as one from a stock maf. Also if you are running the gm maf in a blow through configuration you can vent without doing any other special mods/changing set ups. If you are running in a draw through setup regardless of what type of maf you are using you will have to recirculate since the maf is before the turbo.

Technically your still running a karman MAF. The translator converts from GM hotwire to Karman. So SAFC Decel-Air still doesn't apply.

and im the friend with the 90gsx , i only have it drawthru because that was the easiest way to install it until i get an uicp (hopefully ill get johns "hand me down" LOL), as long as the maft is after the bov then it shouldnt affect anything, because it will no longer be releasing metered air , am i correct?
