Hey guys I recently installed a safc2 on my stock 91 galant vr4. The problem that I am having is that everytime that I turn the car off it erases all of the data that I had put in it, like sensor type, # of cylinders, etc. What could be going wrong? I am 99.9999% positive that it is wired in right as I just double checked it today. It is really starting to bug me because it throws a CEL everytime I start until I input the settings? I know that this can't be a normal thing or there is no way that they would be as popular as they are. I would appreciate any help that you could give me.

Thanks,
Travis

Any idea on how I get to that or is it something that I have to send in to get fixed? I bought the unit second hand, so if I have to send it in I can only assume they will deny to do it.

when my car battery was removed for a few days, the safc lost the info once, it never did it again.

I think the power from the car powers the battery...correct me if Im wrong. I would check the grounds, make sure that they are all good. Remember that the two grounds have to be about an inch apart and in the right order.

It DOES NOT get it's power from the cars battery, it has it's own internal battery to store all your settings.

I would try taking it apart and see if the battery is right there, i'm not sure exactly where it would be but its worth a shot.

Yeah, I wasnt sure of that....however, I lost my settings once when the battery was removed from the car for about a week. Then, after I put the battery back in the car, the settings were saved. So, this obviosly doesnt make any sense.

The original poster should still check the grounds to be on the safe side, it doesnt take long and is a good comfort ruling out yet another possibility.
