hot engine bay

my engine bay gets really hot, so hot i cant grab the dipstick with my bare hands after running the car. i replaced my cracked exhaust manifold and cracked radiator at the same time thinking these might be the problems. my enginebay is still hot as ####. sometimes, on colder days, there is steam eminating from the surface of the fluidyne radiator. the stock engine temp gauge stays in the middle, although i know this means nothing. i replaced the radiator cap about a week ago, still no help. are these symptoms normal? am i fretting for nothing? my egts hover around 1300-1400 at normal speeds, when i get up to about 70mph, they go to 1500-1550. is the steam from the radiator normal?

Yes. Take a good pull at night, stop, pop the hood and look. The manifold and exhaust snail will be glowing. It's the life of turbocharging.

You could try wrapping your exhaust in heat reflective tape. Not the kind that keeps heat out, but the kind that keeps heat in. I guess it would be like insulation.

That would help keep the hot exhaust gases from reaching the rest of your engine bay.

Replaced your thermostat... I know you said your cooling fine and this probably isn't an issue but it's an option. How about new slimline fans?
Either one is an option if you're truly that worried about it. Dunno I don't think either would help tho...

Do you have both lower and upper heat shields still on the car?
