I read an article on hooking up a blinking led to the ignition so that when car is off light blinks and when ignition is on light turns off to simulate a car alarms blinking light. 1 wire goes to any hot wire or direcly to the battery and the other wire says to run to ignition positve wire but not sure which one that is. Can anyone tell me what wire in ignition to splice into for this?

They just want you to use any wire which sees positive voltage with the ignition on and no voltage when the ignition is off. One example of this is the cigarette lighter since it only sees power when the ignition is on. Another one is the wire marked acc going to your radio. Again this only sees power with the ignition switch on or in the accessory position. The fuse box is another example of where to find an ignition positive source. If it were me I would probably tap into one of these, but I'm sure there are others you could use. Maybe someone else can add some examples.

When I wired my oil pressure gauge that i mounted on my steering column in front of the stock one, I wired my "Only when key is on" voltage source to the cigarette lighter and my "always gets power" voltage source to one of the fuses I think

Still a bit confused. If I buy a blinking led light hook 1 wire to a source that is ALWAYS on and hook the other wire to something that is only on when ignition is on? And that will make the blinking light come on when igniton is off and blinking light will turn off when ignition is on?

Other question is do I just go to radio shack and buy a blinking led light that has leeds but no wires and just add my own wires? Because I went there yesterday and they didn't have a flashing led with wires ready to install.

Just ordered a blinking light off ebay after 2 trips to radio shack yielded nothing.

Does it matter what wire on cigarette lighter to splice into? I was thinking for the hot-all-the-time wire there should be one for the radio so going to use that :thumb:
