Try starting it using the bypass connector they gave you. It bypasses the MSD system and allows you to use the factory ignition system. If it works now, you probably switched the wires up. I did the same thing and mine didn't start. I realized that I had the 3 wires that are supposed to go to the coil pack going to the harness, and the 3 wires that are supposed to go to the harness going to the coil pack. If you make this mistake, it will still start with the bypass connector, but not without it. Try the bypass and see what happens.

i also made sure i didn't switched the wires ..the wires that go to the coill pack and the wires going to the car harness are all right ..i thought i might of messed up there so i doubled checked and there fine ..still can't figure this out

..does ## light come on...on the msd box?? mine just blinks real quik when i try to start it
Did the MSD come with instructions that tell you what the quick blinking means? Some form of troubleshooting?

The light blinks every time there is a spark. Or at least that's what the manual says. When the engine is above idle speed, it will appear that the light is on continuously because its flashing so fast. If its on steady when you turn the key to ON but don't crank it, then youre in the timing setup mode. So if its blinking thats a good sign. But i still can't figure out why yours isnt catching. I don't know what else to say except that if you still can't figure it out, switch the 2 sets of 3 wires to their corresponding connection on the other side, basically as I said above. Its not bad to plug them backwards, as I did the first time i hooked up the MSD ignition. It's worth a try if youre out of ideas i suppose...maybe try calling MSD? :dsm:

Yeah I read that on their site, under Top 10 Ignition Questions or something like that. Not that DSMs in general need the adapter, but some cars do.

hey eclipsegsx1736 you were right ..i copied the intrustions from roadrace and the guy who wrote them must of messed up and did it backwards...i was blowing my spark at 25psi on 110 race gas only ..on pump gas it was fine ..thats the only reason i got the msd dis-2..what do u gap ## plugs at ??..i got bpr7es gapped to .28...i also ordered a new factoy coil..cause mine is 13 years old with 142k on it ...i used the busuher coil on plug and that sucked .. my car broke up more then it did..and they told me the coil on plug will give a hotter spark ..what a bunch of bull ..before hooking up the msd-dis-2 i gapped my plugs to .23 do to breaking up at high rpm's and high boost on race gas ..i wonder if i lost any power doing that ..but i gapped them to .28 now with the msd working

turbo used scm61
built motor
big front mount
worked to the ball's head with 272's hks cams
720cc injectors, afc gm maf with tmo ecu chipped
still using a bone stock fuel reg with only a 255 hp walbro hardwired

1992 laser awd car weigh 2810 with out me ..car went [email protected] 23 psi with a 1.8 short time car should be in the 10's if i get my short time to 1.6 and not break up do to spark blowing out ..and like 26-27psi

thanks guys :thumb:

u have a 92 right? for that yr u dont need the tach adapter. check out machv.com they have instruction on ## install. i tried install a dis-2 on a 90 that needs a tach adapter. i couldnt get my car to start either i just got fustrated and just plug everything back w/o dis-2. also u could call msd for instruction. they have a diagram for ## exact install.

I just want to make sure that I got this right. You didn't need the tach adapter right? I just talked with MSD techinicians and they said that I would have to have it. Just want to make sure that I get what I need and nothing more.

How is the car running with the DIS-2 on there? The major reason that I want it is because of the adjustable stutterbox (no e-prom), had some problems at the track this past weekend hooking up and figured that would help me come out of the hole a little more consistantly.

From what I heard only 90 models years need it. I have a 99 and didn't need it, even though one was included when i bought it used. The stutterbox is awesome, I can build 8 psi in neutral at 4500 rpm stutterbox on the T25.

Awesome, I can't wait. This car is gonna rip out the hole with a stutterbox, 1.7's here I come :D
