Real v8 cars never ever see the street...

So the only argument there is, is v8 street car vs import. Which is a pretty ####ing stupid argument. Imports make fun street cars, thats it. Take them for what they are and enjoy it. They will never be a drag car, the consistency and reliability just isnt there.

V8's have a shit ton more potential, its just how it is. Plus we cant go and drop 20k on a trans and run 6's in the quarter on it. Or buy a bullet proof rear end.

Pretty ignorant post if you ask me. There are a ton of DSM Drag cars out there running in the 7's and even Brent Raus' eclipse running in the 6's.

As far as Reliability, Most DSM experts will tell you these cars are reliable if you know what you're doing, your power goals, and aren't cutting corners to improperly get there.

There was a 2g awd making around 700whp taking out bikes here in Colorado that was his daily driver because it was a well built car.

that was kinda like what i posted but i also wanted to know if i could buy just that green plastic piece but i kinda decided to just replace the cable because no matter how manytime i adjusted it it never worked
car was driving perfect after about 150 miles would shift at wot

another question was where to find a governor and if anything else could cause the shifting issue besides those two things that question had been posted for about week with no response

yea i found them online but i was thinking shops to get it asap jw how long do u think it would take to remove and install

to my knowledge, the governor and tv cable would be the only two things that would cause the no shift problem. then again, i never really messed that much with my old RS. i just auto-x raced the pig

And honestly I could make the same argument about about the "v8 and honda guys are all the same" with this forum. Anyone that speaks about putting anything but a 4g63 in a car, or even, heaven forbid, DAILY DRIVING anything but a DSM gets flamed. It goes both ways. When you join a forum with die hard fans devoted to one certain car/engine, anything else is absurd. Supra, rx-7, nissan, ford, chevy, honda, mopar forums...it's all the same. If you don't drive what they drive, you're wrong, even if you break every record there is.

Just for the record, I own a 12 second Honda, I DD a Hyundai, I ownED a '90 TSi AWD, my mom is a die hard ford person, my brother loves Honda's and Subaru's, and my dad likes anything that goes down the 1/4 mile faster than the car in the other lane and is built well.

I'm willing to bet this post gets flamed about how ppl wtih DSM's are "different" (which would only further prove my point

Sorry, but people can "say" that when they are defending DSM's. however, all the threads here are proof otherwise. Of course when you are on a DSM site and someone goes against them, suddenly 100% of members "respect everyone" and "appreciate a well built car." Tomorrow when the 420 question about what turbo to get comes around, everyone will tell him to search, and then tell him he is wasting his money and to get a better engine like a gst or gsx

I never said "not a single person" liked it. The majority will flame. Just do a 420 or honda search on the forums. Or an LSx (whatever number you want) and it will bring up threads with those words in there. Or do a 4g63 into 420, rwd 4g63, or compound turbo setup. Tons of flames, even in Paul's thread WITH RESULTS POSTED.

Eventually in every thread one person has their head on right. Fact of the matter is, even 4g63 people flame the crap out of others.

Exactly my point! The argument that DSM'ers "accept any car" is complete bulls###!. Sorry, but Honda's run 7's too, Stephanie Eggum. She even did it with 0 sponsors what so ever...only used her own money to run those times. They run 8's and 9's too. But yes, they are Honda's so they are the word that starts with "G" no matter what (sorry to use a specific example of a car with power).

It happens with other cars too all the freaking time. Like I said in my first post. When you get on a forum that is dominated by one type of car/engine, anything else is absurd no matter how many records your break.

Funny part? There's video posted of a Civic Hatch with a 4g63 and AWD swap and it was praised as the best thing around and all it did was run 11's with 500hp. Like no 500hp Civic runs 11's? Give me a break. The even more funny part? Someone else made a post asking how to do this, and they got flamed because, get this, IT WAS A HONDA!

It goes both ways guys, as I said, it doesn't matter what forum you're on, and NO car group is immune to it, PERIOD! Seriously, how hard is it to simply respect a car. It doesn't matter where it was made. Any car, any engine, any driver can make a car fast whether its in a straight line or a curved course. It's 2011, and time for people with all cars to open their eyes and get over sterotypes.

Pick up an issue of import tuner and you will find mustangs, camaros, sunfires, cobalts, cavalier's, eclipse's, toyota's, honda's, nissan's, etc. Ricers exist with every car type, and so do tuners.

I don't care if you drive an SUV on 55" wheels, everything chromed out, with the craziest airbrush job I've ever seen. I respect a car with good workmanship, even if it isn't fast.

I seriously wish I could shake your hand. And I wish everyone was like you. I hate the stock car with a shopping cart wing as much as the next guy, but when the shopping cart wing run's an 11, I don't make bs excuses and call it rice.

Too many people thing anything outside the status quo is either 1) rice, or 2) "a waste of money."

it is a waste of money but at the same time its not just because you could have a car just as fast or faster for less money and so on. but its what they want to build and its the engine they know. i look my camaro i look at the engine and im completely clueless why because the only engine i know my way around is a 4g63 and what would i have an esier time with the 4g63 why because that what i know

So true. At the end of the day, it's what the owner wants that matters. Who cares if you're fast in the 1/4, full mile, or auto cross track if you hate the car and can't/don't want to spend time working on it. I'd rather have a car that I loved working on and it was MY definition of clean, than a car that I hated and never wanted to be in the garage with, but could beat my neighbors car. I will own my Honda till the day I die. Not because it's fast, but it's because it was the first car I bought, and the first car i completely rebuild suspension and all. If it weren't for that car, I probably wouldn't be into cars at all, and would be a totally different person since cars are such a big part of my life now.

I love going to car shows, and there are a lot of cars that make my jaw drop at the attention to detail that went into the final product, and the motor is bone stock. Yet there are drag cars that do the same thing with a stock body. I respect both equally, and both make the owners equally happy. Although I suppose the drag car owner is less happy should something go wrong and he has to rebuild the motor, or worse yet, he hits the wall. I mean I know i'd be upset unless I was Steve Jobs, Bill Gates, or owned Disney...then I'd be less upset.

i agree with everything said here and in my head a real car guy can respect any good platform/ well built car and me assumeing that i figured there wouldnt be a big arugement that was draged out way to far by some one that will remiam nameless
