Has anyone tried and completed a "homemade Maf-translator"? I will be correcting with a safc-5 knob.

One might say:"They are only $200. Why are you so cheap?". For you I say search "DSMer's=cheap".

If you have the smarts to do it, then by all means go ahead. But a homemade fuel controller isn't like some intercooler piping that leaks a little, there could be bad consequences, and a rebuild will end up costing more than a translator. But give it shot, DSMlink started somewhere too.

The whole dsmer's are cheap ordeal needs to stop already.. Dsmer's that are cheap, Replace shit all the time and have no money. You get what you pay for most of the time, Don't give out your assumptions that all dsmer's are cheap.

In regards to DSMer's being cheap...my mistake...given the amount of DIY power adders and clever inexpensive ways to get our cars to perform, I thought frugal would be synonymous with DSM. I sort of enjoy the fact that my 2g is now as fast and handles almost as good as my 2001 C5 did; and I saved $32,500.00 to get where its is now. I have come to terms with being called cheap.

If someone had a spare translator that someone could disassemble, we could get a list of the componenets and see what I could do. I am not interested in pretty packaging. I would like to use the factory wiring loom to carry the modified wires and keep the engine bay clean.
When manufacturers make these componets, they do the R&D, packaging, trademark, and gross purchase the components. The summary of components are possibly a fraction of the cost of assembled kit. The only cost issue that I can pre-project conceive is if there was a preprinted circuit board of custom chip.
