Holy mother of.... you won't believe this.

This site may earn a commission from merchant affiliate links, including eBay, Amazon, and others.

I'm talking about 1G parts. 2Gs are new enough where you won't see prices for parts skyrocket for several years to come... considering the car was last made 5 years ago, of course the prices are mostly reasonable.

The 1G is over 10 years old. Most of the parts have long since been discontinued. Hello?

No sir. I did not look up the wrong part. I went by the diagram that was shown.

Hmm, that is the right part. It's very strange how much they want to charge you.

I found my invoice for these parts from 1/13/04:

MB522080 - PANEL, RADIO (TYPE A) - $15.90
MB522082 - BOX, STEREO ACCESSORY (WITH OUT LID) - $6.50
MB409435 - SCREW,FLOOR - $1.64 (for two)

My total was $25.14 after tax. If you want, I'm willing to help a DSM'er out. I can order these parts from my local dealership and send them to you with no profit to me. I hope I can still get the same price again, because I see on the invoice he wrote me as "WHOLESALE BODY SHOP" with a 20% discount because one guy there hooks me up.

Let me know if you're interested.

stock 2g smic is 900 from dealer.

dealers charge so much cause 9 out of 10 parts are purchased by insurance companies.

food for thought: if you were to buy each part individually for a 2001ish corvette c5 from the dealer, it would cost in excess of $400,000; nearly the price the enzo sold for new.

Mannn thats crazy $350 for a damn pocket...it would be cheaper to go buy a really nice double din stereo :D!

Mark,

You are a saint! Yes, I'd like to take you up on your offer. Are all of the pieces you listed required? What is the panel and the box with lid? I assume the screws are for fastening the box the the mounting frame?

My email is [email protected] if you wish to discuss the details in private.

Thanks again.

I know... isn't that crazy?? I tell you, capitalism and the supply vs deman system is screwed up. Screwed up values... screwed up system. But, it does have its up-sides. We'd all be driving the same car with the same color and same amenities if it weren't for the free market system we have.

I get 20% discounts too
I think its possible for anyone to get that wholesale discount.
most technical school or shops will have an account with dealer.
so you just go in, say you're from bla bla bla and charge it on their account.
like yesturday I got a $22 fuel filter for $15, no complaints there, more money in my pockets :)

I've been doin this for about a year now ;)
