Taking this thing apart is super easy to clean.

i will try and remember.

take the C cover off and the T housing. 7/16 v band clamps then they fall off.
Take the shaft nut off.
pull off the wheel.
slide out the turbine wheel with the shaft
then 3 allen screws hold on the cover behind the compressor wheel
Then in the oil drain hole there is an allen screw that "pinches" the vgt arm
pull the arm with the gear out "vgt arm"
Then the rest is easy just start pulling stuff apart. behind the vgt fin plate deal is the most sooty. I also sanded everything smooth and shiny again.

Dont be scared these are the most easy turbos i have ever taken apart. like a 11 mm / 7/16 socket and an allen wrench or two and it falls apart.

at 28 psi this thing made 57lbs a min at 8k or so via dsmlink and calibrated gm maf. Its on the dsmlink forums in

New holset vgt variable vein thread i made a long time ago. In the misc tech section.

Just remember the compressor nut is LEFT HANDED. Another guy I know didn't notice and twisted his shaft off.

Dany, do you thing there is any way you could post some of that information here? I would like to see it and I use megasquirt instead of link so I can't see it. That sounds pretty impressive for stock intake.

Yeah I use dsmap instead of link LOL so I can't see it either. That's still some pretty good air flow.

I have DsmLink datalogger downloaded on my computer to view V2 logs(dat file) and I don't use DsmLink

That is some high airflow and i'd love to see logs

My mod list is probably quite old on here

I was seeing about high 40 lbs/min with the 6031 pte. Most of the logs with the vgt are like 50lbs/min then that one high spot of 57. But my problem now is knock. It might spool fast enough to get super high cylinder pressures at the peak torque range. So It knocks and i have to lift. Plus its in fwd so it just blows the tires off. I need some money for race gast and a dyno session. since the track is 5 hours away....

Logs are kinda lost. I was tuning my fwd laser with an hx35 on it and might have deleted some. but will look.

Just an fyi because we are all friends here LOL. My name is Danny Moss and I used to have a yamaha yz250f hence the screen name. On link forums im d_moss.

Again this is a first log ever. So tuning is not really right on. Nor did I have the actuator shimmed super good. I also think the avcr helps a bit now. And there might be some tire spinning going on.

For some reason your TPS isn't coming up. I would definitely start by lowering your timing some, especially in the torque range. Lot of potential and tons of airflow though, definitely off to a good start. Nice setup!

Ever think about a solenoid for this? How much pressure does it need to hold one way or the other at different rpm/loads? Is it like a wastegate that just needs to hold back until a set load and or rpm?

hey just found this thread while looking into the vgt turbo onto a 4g63. as far as electronic control fleece performance has made a control box thats supposed to do all, control vgt function, boost control , etc. its listed for $400 on their site. a little pricey but if it would function as a wastegate and vgt control would save a lot of time and space and custom fabbing

Yeah I saw that box as well... its to gouge the diesel market, I'm sure someone can figure it out with pinouts or just a plain old WG actuator like I've seen a couple people do now.

a friend of mine put the vgt on a f22 honda, stock internals, single cam. He boosted up to 20 psi with it. He never could blow that motor up, its crazy for a NA motor to be boosting like that. My friend also put a spring somewhere so the vgt regulated as the boost increased. He said the airflow rating goes from as small as a t25 to as big as what the turbo size is.

Its a cool box from what I've seen. It will NOT function as a wastegate. With this turbo you will still need an external wastegate on a gasoline engine. The VGT itself will not regulate boost. With it on my 2.4 and the VGT fully open by <10psi, boost continues rising. By ~4500rpm its at 24psi, and the boost is rising at a greater and greater rate. I would imagine 40+ at redline without an external wastegate is a good guess.

As far as saving space, thats debatable. My WG actuator used to control the VGT takes up less space than the stock VGT actuator that the fleece box uses.
