Hole in Passenger Side Floor Pan

So I've been working on my new track project with a car I just acquired (92 Talon AWD) and I've tore out the entire interior and started removing the sound deadening from the floors and back seat. That's when I came across what you see in the pictures. It was covered in black RTV / window weld. Now to me it looks like someone stuck a sawzall into the floor pan and just went to town, I have no idea why someone would have done this... Underneath it looks like they may have run over a large rock and it dented the floor up a little. I can't tell exactly what they used to patch it, but it's like a hardened putty. I have a pic from above and a pic down below. My question is, I'm having the car sent to a shop to install an 8pt roll bar, is this something that is easily repairable? I don't know much about uni-body structure, is it safe to fix it? Will it affect any of the structural integrity?

Especially with a cage stiffining the car up, you'll never be able to tell if you fix that or not. But since youve gone ripping all the interior and sound deadening out it wouldnt hurt to get that patched up while your getting that other work done. Thats a quick and easy patch job!

i was going to make a joke about this but then i saw it was a 1g and decided not to.

I would just have them weld it shut if its sawzaw width. Shouldn't affect the structural integrity.

You can probably do it yourself if you feel up to it, but it looks to me that the black stuff might be under coat. If it is when you are welding it can catch on fire, just have someone under the car with a blow gun to blow out the flames when they start. My coworker and i recently put in a floor pan on an f-150 that had a ton of under coat and that's what we did.

Weld it, or cover it with some seam sealer.

My floorpan has its share of holes, mostly from hitting rocks and bottoming out over jumps.
