HKS Wastegate

Hello, I have a 91 eagle talon TSI AWD with 9.0 to one pistons and a HKS wastegate on a 2g manifold feeding a small 16G turbo.
With the vacume line hooked to the turbo outlet pipe and hooked do the HKS I am getting 16 PSI.

I am wanting to hit 10-13, I have tried to look online for what spring I need but I have been unable to find the color/partnumber or where to buy one.

It is a HKS 40MM standard wastegate, someone know what spring I need?

So basically you want to turn down the boost from 16 to about 10-13, right? Maybe I'm mistaken, but why don't you just turn down the MBC a little?

I do not have a MBC installed, the port on the wastegate is hooked directly to the nipple on the intercooler pipe.


I need to find a smaller spring but having been able to determine which one I need.

The standard wastegate only has two spring pressures listed, 14.7 PSI and 20 PSI...

I am wondering if there are other springs that can be used.

Sometimes boost pressures will vary depending on wastegate placement and boost gauge accuracy, but it sounds to me like you have the 14.2 psi (approx 1 BAR) spring.

You will not be able to run under whatever spring tension the wastegate is rated at. You'll be able to safely double this pressure before you run into problems with boost spiking / dropping.

Yeah, I saw that link... I find it hard to belive they only list two spring for 14 psi and 20 PSI but you can buy a standard wastegate with several diffrent spring sizes...



I am wondering if the Race version of the hks wastegate fits?
