Im having trouble finding out if i can put an hks external wastegate on a tubular exhaust manifold i cant find if the flanges will bolt up or not? And what is a "Barb Fitting" hks says they sell them seperately and so does everybody else and what does it do?

well what hks wastegate are you looking to use? I currently have a standard series 44mm wastegate that i am looking for a base plate for. I have found one on HKS's site for 70.00 and am looking for one for a little less that that. but you will have to have it welded on. more than likely

Which HKS external wastegate and which tubular manifold? Are you just looking for one that fits on any tubular manifold?

Its the HKS 40mm standard wastegate with a 20lb spring. The manifold i was looking at to go with this is the DNP one for stock mitsubishi turbos im going to be running a standard 20g. I was wondering if i could just order the manifold with the TIAL external wastegate flange and take it to a welding shop and have them cut off the tial flange and put on the HKS flange?

If you haven't bought the HKS gate, just buy a Tial one. If you don't want to spend the extra money on a Vband gate, you can get the V band to 38mm Tial adapter that DNP sells.

If not, yes, you can buy the manifold and have a flange welded, but you may want to check with DNP if they'll still give you a warranty on it. You can also send the HKS flange to DNP and ask them if they'll weld it on their manifold. www.dnperformance.com

I assume you are going with a the standard 40mm wastegate from HKS, since you really don't have a need for thier Racing or GT series wastegates. Thats still 450 bones, thats alot of cash to fork over because of name brand. And you still have to get an adapter since the DNP is flanged for 44mm. Why not get the TiAL V44 wastegate?

i dont care about the warranty because if DNP makes quality parts (which they do) there should be no need to have the warranty. Pretty much everything on my car is HKS so thats why im going to get the manifold with the 44mm wastegate option take it to a welder and have him cut it off and weld on the HKS flange. Bolt the HKS wastegate to the flange and have in conclusion a DNP tubular manifold with a HKS standard 40mm 20lb spring wastegate.

thanks alot dg777 guy i was hearing the same things from other people to. I went to slowboy and there tubular manifolds have a guarantee that the manifold wont crack and if it does then theyll fix it for free.

Just reading like 4 reveiws slowboy is a pretty bad company for customer service and i have a list of like $3000 worth of parts ready to order so it looks like im gonna go somewhere else for parts now thanks guys.

Reading on tubular manifolds compared to cast manifolds the tubualar ones make about 16whp more than the cast ones but the tubular ones crack so what kind of tubular manifold would one of you guys go with.

:shhh:We don't talk about vendor reviews here, keep your thread on topic.:thumb:

That all depend on how much money you want to spend, a nice one will cost any where from $500 to $800 but most of them carries a life time warranty for the original owner. Shearer, SLS, DNP...etc. are just some of the names that comes to mind. That said, there are some disadvantages, you already know about cracking, higher underhood temperature is another. IMO, cast manifolds are much well suited for a street car and costs much less. Check out my profile, I'm well over 400 whp and I'm running an EVO3 cast manifold, I like it because I can still use heatshields. Also check out Forced Performance's newest cast manifold, a very solid piece.

That is why i didnt want to go DNP because they crack.
And i guess they like to melt the fans to right?

It is not just DNP, it is all tubular manifolds that are prone to cracking when used on a street car. If you properly seal it and protect it, you may get more life out of it, but I'd just go with a cast manifold. As I said, there is a reason people get cast manifolds on a street car. If you want a high flowing manifold, get FP's new cast manifold. If you are looking for an exhaust manifold with a wastegate flange on it, take a look at HAFE Performance's SS cast manifold, they are sold by SBR, but you can also get it directly from HAFE. http://www.hafeperformance.com/product.php?productid=16153&cat=257&page=1
