HKS SSQV damaging in any way?

A few kids from my states DSM club are completely convinced that the HKS SSQV (which i have recirculating), will blow my (or any) turbo eventually just for being the BOV that it is. Anyone care to chime in on this one? I highly refuse to listen to this non-sense simply b/c i love mine and tons of other people on here have it and seem to love it as well with few to no problems, and by few i mean not enough noise , So, if anyone with some longterm experience with this BOV would care to chime in, be my guest.

Yah, um, the HKS BOV's can be a bit of trouble, at least for me. According to the guys at the local dealership it's the reason why my TPS blew after using it (even though no one else had heard about that). Freaking out why your check engine light is on is never fun, so now I'm staying safe and searching for a 1G bov.

Dealerships will tell you that ANYTHING aftermarket will damage your car or whatnot. They are the last ones i would ask for an answer to why it blew. They highly dislike "aftermarket" products of any kind and only root them as the problem.

yup. i went to our dealership and they looked at my BOV and i had it there w/o the radiator hose going back into the air intake and i was asking why the rpms dip down when i rev up (when i didnt know what i know now) and the guy was like how the #### did u drive it here, its not supposed to be able to run like that. ####n idiot. but he did help me w/ the radiator hose (i was trying to find something to replace the vacume cleaner hose the idiot who owned the car b4 me had on it, darn ghettoness).

btw i bent the metal piece that supposed the air intake cone down so that the piping from the BOV to the air intake wasnt squished so now it has a nice curv like it should, and it doesnt make the whistling sound anymore, i get a very soft and quiet woosh too bad its not a loud woosh

The SSQ is a push/pull valve. Its the best concept because it WONT leak under high boost. The SSQ studders alot (which some confuse with compressor surge), but that is due to the fact it opens and shuts very quickly. Ive had mine vented before and recirc'd now, no problems either way and I love it 1000X's more than my Type-S

hell yeah man i have the ssbov too and i vent to the atmosphere i havent had any problems and the bov has two chambers i beleive to explain the stuttering better the stutter is from the low pressure chamber and the whistle is the high pressure chamber
but anyways yah its the 1 to get i love the sound and no idle problems either. people that have the idle problems DID NOT set up the vacumlines properly its or else they just need to stop being cheap and use 91 octane instead of 87 DUDE I LOVE MY CAR

oh well.. since it is bumped back up..

I have had a SSQV on my car since I bought it and it has been vented the whole time... first with a big 16g then with a 14b now with a garret t4..

I took the sound insert out awhile back and it is much quieter.. with the 14b it just sounded like a rush of air even at 20+ psi..

BUT with the t4 it is NASTY.. it sounds just like a supra or something would.. it is just a quick PPoo and thats it.. I am going to make a small video when I get the speedometer working again. At lower boost levels I cannot even hear it work.

I'd like to hear it. I actually like the way the HKS Racing Type-II sounds, which makes the distinct ch-choo or studder sound you're refering to.
