I'm up at HAAF and live in Savannah, I dont get back till next week and I'm up for a meet once I get the Laser back up and running. Got 3500 in parts ordered already got another 2k to order he in a few days, so hopefully alot of money thrown at it at once will take care of alot of stuff. If i get it runnin I'll try to make it up to Columbia, theres a strip club up there I wanna go to anyway.:thumb:

Well, I shouldnt have said it! Accelerating from a stop light, I heard a loud pop come from my engine bay. Opened it up and now theres a light rattle coming from the top of the engine block. Woohoo, my first engine troubles!

that sucks, i got my car running!!! its good compared to how it was running! bad knock sensor, replaced it, bad o2 unpluged it
 
Good times! I'm still not sure what was wrong, but it only rattles when the engine is warmed up, and im not throwing any codes. the engine runs smooth still, and my car feels so much better on new wheels and tires :D
 
I know this thread is gettin' long, but do any of you know of a good DSM repair shop in the area? I am pretty sure that my head gasket is blown, my oil pan seal is shot, and i've got green fluid leaking out from a drain bolt on the bottom of the transmission. I'm not sure that I'm up to taking apart my engine as of right now. I was hoping for a lil more time fixing minor issues before opening up my engine!!
 
shops around here? no!!! maybe a dealer ifyou have the money, but i would say i dont trust the shops around here from what i've seen

edit: at least not like speed shops, there is one in port royal its a joke, then one in bluffton but i wouldnt go there either. but im pretty sure sav has a machine shop if you need your motor worked on, i work at a machine shop here in beaufort. but yea ill be willing to help to
 
DO NOT I REPEAT DO NOT Go to bev-tech in bluffton hes a joke if you had a honda he would be the guy to go to but hes not a dsm guy. I went there to ask him about a connector for my wally and he looked at it like he never saw one before. Also I had him make me a CAI that was safe aka have the screen in it and put enough angle on it to help reduce water chances and it sucked up water without even thinking twice about it.
 
I'll take all the help I can get. I don't know anyone on this post that has actually modded or worked on their DSM. All I see are plain eclipses, and most of them seem to run stock. Right now I am trying to find out all the parts I will need to buy to replace, as well as see about special tools I might need for the job. I would love to throw in some better parts, but at the moment, as any good govt. worker, I am broke! From what I am estimating, just replacing gaskets will run me a couple hundred. Who knows if there is engine damage though... I'm not driving it anymore until I can get that head gasket (at the minimum) changed. Thank god for backup cars.

i am running my car basicly stock becuase the guy i bought it from f**ked everything up on it so ive been fixing his mess ups. but i had plenty of working on cars, i work at a machine shop we build race ready motors. i have never tuned i cant tune never tried, but i can wire things, take a motor apart, i havent had anything i couldnt really do, me and my brother built a boosted 91 jetta, converted a 85 jetta deisel to gas. i've built honda's. never really built an eclipse, but im slowly building mine. well building/fixing
 
ive never realy messed with dsm.....come on now ive put a fully built motor in my 420a and boosted and am now geting into the 4g63 platform. my daily job is a mechanic and am 18 and know my way around many cars very well
 
Well, Gents its good to see that there be people to trun to when i get back to Ft.stewart. i bought a 95 gsx while here in iraq, its currently in oklahoma brining it down when i get back. it has some basic work done to it, but more will follow. anyways i hoep there'll be something intersting when i get back.
 
Well I've gotten started putting my car back together. The paint on this thing is hidious and the body needs alot of work but for minus the head liner the interiour is in great shape after a good cleaning. Factory leather in great shape with no cracks and all of the pieces are there and ready to go back together but does anyone know of a good paint shop, all the body will be done prior to going into the shop just looking for something a little on the cheaper side. Any suggestions?

I have purchased all the gaskets that I can possibly think of to replace the head gasket, ie. valve cover gasket kit, exhaust manifold gasket, intake manifold gasket, oem head gasket (using ARP head studs, as per reading the forums) and oil pan gasket. You mentioned working at a machine shop, would y'all be able to fix my head if it turns out to be warped?

I was the "Surge" so we got to be there for a lovely 15 months. I'll be heading back fall of 2009, and plan on fixing my talon up as best as I can in the meantime!
