hey guys i got a little question. when im driving in towns and such my oil temp reads on the low line. however when im on the highway the oil temp reads high. i drive around 60-65 mph on the highway and maybe 2.5-3k rpm. when i got home i opened my hood to look at my fans. the right fan was blowing hard but the left fan was doing nothing. also the fan blows air to the engine. just want to get some ideas from you guys. if i replace the fans should it help? also what air flow should the fans blow? air to or out of the engine? since its almost autumn in NJ the heat is going to stop so what ever you guys suggest ill do in spring of 11.

*edit*
im running on a SMIC. engine is stock just with aftermarket air intake

Your fans have nothing to do with oil cooling. Your fans are for water temp. They are supposed to pull air through the radiator and blow it onto the engine. One fan is only on when your A/C is on. what kind of oil temp gauge do you have and what is it showing for temp? If your referring to the "oil can" gauge that's in the cluster, then it's the oil PRESSURE gauge. The oil pumps in the DSM's are driven by RPM. The higher your RPM are, the more oil pressure you'll create.

well i felt dum reading this but you learn something everyday. anyway im going to ask some other questions here, dont feel like making new topics for these little questions.

my left fan dosent work even if AC is at full blast on cold/hot what ever combo i use. so my AC dosent blow cold air, just warm and it feels kinda humid. if i replace the fan or find that it isent getting power and flush and add new coolent should it fix the issue? it feels like it wants to play cold air but comes out slightly cold.

By the dials on the center console, there should be a button with a snowflake on it. Do you press that button when trying to use your AC? If not, try that. I wouldn't replace the fan unless you test it and find out it is broken. Flushing out your coolant will not fix your AC. You will need to recharge your AC system. The AC system is completely separate from the cooling system in a car. There are "Do it yourself" kits at all the autoparts stores for recharging your AC or you can take it to a shop to do it. If you do recharge your AC and it works for a couple days, an hour, a week... and then doesn't anymore, then you have a leak in your AC system.
