Ok this is weird. 2 days ago I had both fans meltdown on me (see my last thread) due to a snow filled engine bay. I couldn't get replacements just yet due to discontinued stock parts, so I've drove the car around town without fans for a few errands. Havn't had any trouble with overheating or anything else until I got home.

When I got home, I go to turn the car off as usual, and I noticed the highbeams were on. No, I didn't have them on to begin with, tho I was driving with the running lights on, normally I would just turn the headlights on. I suppose I should mention the highbeams have never worked on this car since I've owned it. Suddenly the highbeams came on, and won't turn off even with the key out and the headlight switch off.

I've attempted to reset the ecu by pulling the yellow bi-fuse, and again by disconnecting the battery. As soon as the battery is connected the lights come back on. Could I have further electrical problems I'm not aware off to cause this?

I will indefinately park the car until I can shed some light (bad pun) on the subject. Ty for any input.

hmm, is this part of the main ecu? Or is it a separate unit located elsewhere? I know when I turn on the running lights, the highbeams come on but very dim.. like stealth mode. I had these on when this happened. Thanks luv2rallye. I will be searching the forums in the meantime.

I shorted out my alternator once and it blew the big fuse in the box under the hood and when it did my lights stayed on like its some kind of safety thing in case your on the road you won't be left out in the dark. So check your main fuses its a 100 amp fuse in the box under the hood.

Ok, my 100 amp fuse appears to be good. I did find the electronic module refered to in the thread I found, and the lights went off when I unplugged it. I opened the unit up and found charred circuitry. I'm having it looked at by a local electronic repair guy, since chrysler wants $430 to have me a new one shipped.

I also found the unit was recieving 12V on the red wire after the car was turned off. I sure hope this is normal.

Anyone with a 2g feel like jumping down there and testing the red wire for voltage with the ignition off? Something tells me the charred module may not be my only problem.

The module has the part number MB875985 on it in big letters on top, and its bolted to the frame with 2 10mm bolts in front of the drivers side tire, and just behind the splashguard.

ps. this part may only be present on canadian models, if its the daytime running lights module.
