I just bought this wonderful 1994 Eagle Talon TSi. After I drove it for a while I noticed it didn't build much boost and had a strange miss under load and at different rpm or rpm boost combos.
I found my stock intake had cracked, I replaced it and my turbo with a 16g and a tubular manifold, which I ported. When, while I had the turbo off I noticed large cracks around the wastegate which accounted for the strange boost issues. I still have a miss though. For example if I bury the pedal in third gear around 3.5k to 6k or so and other gears slightly differing rpms.
I had a vac leak around my injectors so I put in new seal kits NAPA number 200-400 (found the leak with starting fluid). I am running stock boost levels until I get this issue resolved. I have swapped out the MAF to check that, I also tried running bpr6es plugs (NGKs) gapped at .29. I don't have any loose connections that I can see, and I build boost all the way up unlike a boost leak it even seems like it only misses under like 7-10 psi and when I get nearer to 14 it runs better.
Also the idle will hold 1.5k for awhile then go down to 1k-900 rpm. I might build a boost leak tester tonight to check for boost leaks (thank god for the Home Depot credit card). Any sensors or anything I need to check I can pull off my friends car (1990 eclipse) but I don't want to abuse this and just start pulling his sensors. Also I tested the resistor pack.
Thank you all very much.
