Because of budget issues, how does bolting up a high-flow cat sound without the purchasing of an aftermarket downpipe? Are there power increases? Is it even worth the time/money? Keep in mind, I already have the N1 catback... Any thoughts???

If you bolt on a high flow cat without a downpipe, your restriction in the exhaust path is still here. I suggest you get a cat and downpipe instead of just the cat.

http://www.roadraceengineering.com/eclexhaust.htm makes a cat and short/long downpipe to bolt on to the N1. If funds are short, get the short downpipe with a test pipe and when you have money get a cat.

I'm sure you can find cheaper downpipes on ebay or in the classifieds.

I agree. If money is an issue, I suggest Megan Racing. They have some quality Stainless pieces for a decent price. You can check them out here. If still not in the price range you are looking for save for a couple weeks and do it all at once is my suggestion.

i have to agree with you there, i bought a megan downpipe for 105$ shipped to germany and i was very impressed,i didnt have to cut, reweld or modify the hangers at all.. and at work people were like, damn, how much did that run you 250?

but if I were to install just a high-flow cat hypothetically, would I gain any noticable power?

i believe you would gain a couple hp , BUT i highly doubt you would be able to notice it without the downpipe. the hi flow cat is basically supporting the rest of the exhaust being able to flow good. if you had the stock cat in place and had one of those downpipes that don't delete the cat then the stock cat would be a huge restriction. hope you can understand this, because i almost confused myself :p
