Because it's much wider. I pretty sure he's not looking to redesign the front clip.

Yah thats correct, all the pieces depend on their interactions with eachother to make downforce, you have to completely redesign the system for that. It's months of work and I think by far most people wanting a full body will want wide body.
 
####ing A, of course you would do this after ive parted out the gsx. Someone needs to buy these, throw thier car into TTA or TTU with a gt3076R and pwn some serious sti/gtrs. A lightweight GSX (26-2800lbs easy), with this kit and about 350whp would be absolutely brutal.

I wish you the best of luck!! 4k is a steal if your trying to bring down laptimes. A simple low-drag high downforce wing is 1400-1800 alone and your getting a more balanced entire setup along with the ability to probably fit the ever popular 285/30/18, possibly more. Shame if this is lost to the history books as the DSM was never given a fair chance for road course part options.

Yah that is true, in terms of lap times per dollar its actually really cheap. If it were not for this body, my car wouldnt be competitive in time attack at all. The combination of tire accommodation and downforce we'd lose for sure.

Also regarding this kit. At the present time we are planning to begin mold production mid summer.

what your doing for us in the aero dept is epic.

i really wish i hit the lotto for this one. maby i can scrape up some cash for the bumper and fenders when the time comes..

i would like to know a little more about the homemade windtunnel. can you post up some info or send me a pm please?
 
Is the kit going to be for sale on a particular website or are we going to have to PM you for details on ordering a kit or parts of the kit. I for one am particularly interested in the hood, but was just curious on where to order from once the kit gets into production.
 
First of all, thank you for bringing something of this magnitude to the community.

Ever since I first laid eyes on your car, I've had questions. I think the most obvious is why you started with a Spyder if racing and aero were in mind. I mean, doesn't the poor roof-line flow characteristics work against all this labor you've put into it? And why pick the heaviest 2g model, and the one with the most chassis flex? Always been very curious as to your thinking. My guess is the decision to race came after you already bought the car.

While all the pieces of this kit work together as a functional whole, If you could partition out the amount of total downforce attributable to each component, what would you estimate those numbers to be? For example: 20% front winglets, 30% rear wing, 50% rear diffuser?

Also, did you ever do any R&D on a flat underbody tray? That's the one aero option I always dreamed about for our cars - with a functional diffuser (ala F430) it would be both stealth and complete the car's overall aero design. As a daily driver, my car never sees the track, but it does see MPG haha. Always interested in dropping our already slick Cd of 0.28-0.29 to something even better. BTW, what is the estimated (or measured) Cd of this kit?

Did you localize the air stagnation points on the stock body first? Very interested to know where those are. One of these days I was going to go out and tape a bunch of small threads to my car to scan for turbulence (and check if these bomex aero mirrors actually do anything positive :)

How much did removing the windshield wiper help? I understand that some wipers produce as much drag as an entire Aptera.

Are you marketing this as a street driven product or race only?

I think people are misunderstanding the benefit of the product. It's not suppused to look "cool" with made neons on it. It's supposed to kick bleep and take names on the track, looking cool is just a perk.
 
Update: my car is now at the shop and work has begun to make the molds. My car has been too heavily modiifed. Too many connection points changed, so we are buying another roller chassis bone stock and no accidents so that we can fit the body onto it.

The new rear is going to look insane. It will be widened out to accommodate monster tires for the AWD guys. Ill post pics as things shape up.

This is being marketed as a downforce functional body kit. If you like how it looks, thats up to you to do as you please.
 
Update

Picked up a stock car donor chassis, delivered it to the shop. They are already making changes so that its bolt on to a stock body.

Factory hood wont really work with this kit, it can be on the car but it wont line up without you making modifications.

Here are a few pics of it being fitted onto the stock body hard top car. Changes are being made to the hood and bumper to attach to stock mount points.

The new rear fender setup will be 3" wider than stock to match the front

Even though stock headlights are cockeyed, we are going to make the bumper fit tightly. I brought factory headlights to make sure the car fits correctly to stock parts. Everything we are doing now is trying to assure the best possible fitment. This is important for aerodynamics as well as good looks.

You will be able to choose fiberglass (light) or kevlar (extra money and even lighter) for the hardcore guys looking to shave every last pound
 
Looks like a cross between a S2000 and an SRT-4. I do like it though.
 
One thing I think would be neat is for some one to take their car to a race track, and do about 5 laps or so, and keep a record. Then Install the full body kit, and only change what needs changed. ((Cause I dunno if the wider wheels are needed for the wider body)) and check out the difference in lap times.
 
I will be running a transponder next track day, so I'll know what my lap times are without the new wide body kit.
I will be running 17x9's on Nitto NT-01's sized 255/40/17's but more than likely RT-615's so I can drive to the track and back and not sweat lossing precious R-Comps to mileage.

When the new body kit goes on, I'll probably have to go to 17x10's with whatever rubber fits those...
 
The kit is almost done to go to the guys who make the mold. Looks like we are about 3 weeks away on this! Pics to come soon! Wait till you guys see the new rear fenders. They are designed for the AWD guys to have same size tires front and rear (HUGE tires) and they are designed to create substantial downforce in the rear as well.
