I just dabble in composites but Kevlar really is'nt lighter than FG just more impact resistant than FG and CF. Most air splitters are made up of several layers of CF and kevlar and maybe FG for a core to be cheap. If you want a more serious hardcore piece, than CF is the way to go.

Thanks drew! I remembe when you were on SDDSM before all those guys ran you out. Im glad you are making something like this for the DSM community. I wish I had the money to make my DSM a full track car. If your hood will fit stock fenders/front bumper, then I would be really interested in getting one to help with cooling.

Yes, all of that is correct. The kevlar is only slightly lighter but stronger than the FG. The carbon has all the strength and lighter.

It's been said before, but Damn that's nice. I'd Kill to get a kit like this for 1gs. :p
As well, I'll just have to settle for back yard engineering when I get to the point I NEED more downforce.
 
how much was just the hood looking at. made of fiberglass. and does it bolt right on into any 2g or does it look off.

No shit. I would definitely be into something like that as long as it were still streetable. Of course... it would have to fit a 1g. After my 2g experience and now back to a 1g I will never own another 2g unless its a bone stock 98 Talon TSi.

IMO the handle like a boat. Maybe it was just the 2g FWD vs 1g AWD but still, I never completely got used to that 2g.

I wish we could price it cheaper, but it costs a lot of money to produce a kit and thats not even counting what it cost me for two years to develop and refine the body. How much time I gave up at my day job to do CFD, all the money spent on track events, testing, etc. To develop a kit on this level, being frugal costs $100k and up. It might be outside of peoples price range but race teams that pay for this kind of development pay way way north of this and even non aero functional top line kits sell for $10k to other communities. Take a look at what a voltex kit costs even nearly double, and this kit makes 2x that downforce.

If we try to make a lot and sell a lot to make the money back, it kills all our time dealing with people and selling kits, we aren't body kit guys, we are racers just trying to break even on molds to lose weight from the car. If we make a lot of them, it will get copied and the functionality gets lost each time someone copies it and this is my design, years of my hard work and sweat into it so I refuse to have it copied. We aren't even trying to profit on this.

Through all the races and time that went by we made changes over and over again, refining the car for drag and downforce. I learned things about little details that made big differences and the body evolved. Every time we changed things, it got heavier but now its at a very high state of development so we decided to freeze the development and produce this, the FXMD Eclipse Widebody kit. I know a lot of people are going to decide they want this after the production run is over, but like I said the goal isn't to become a body kit seller. Anyone who is really interested in this, hit me up on PM Im compiling an email list for people to be updated when its available in about 3 weeks time.
 
Real hardcore dsm guys will buy this, the people bitching about money are the same people who will never build or own a fast dsm


Once you start building for over 400whp things get very very expensive.



DSM's ARE NOT CHEAP CARS!


Proper nasty setups are just as much as 240s,300zx,supras etc


twin scroll manifolds are alot of money!

GT series are alot of money


A gt42r car needs about 20k in support to run it right

im talking about doing everything the right way


Anyone can own a big turbo car, but not everyone can make the big turbo cars true power numbers
 
Drew, I'd not respond to "cool but too expensive" posts. You've clearly spelled out what this will do, what it will cost, etc. I think some folks just like to "hear" their "voice". ;)

I'm beyond thrilled, even if it's for a car I'll never own, that people are still trying to better our community through positive actions and press (Time Attack in your case), and still producing parts that are new and innovative.
 
Thanks for the support guys. Im really stoked to see a small fleet of DSMs out there tearing up road courses and breaking the stereotype! I have a little chip on my shoulder about it haha

I get emails and PMs from people from time to time that were inspired by my build thats really what keeps me going, and you need something. Racing and winning is unbelievably hard work. You sacrifice a lot for it.

I love the look and design I'm keeping my eye on this for the finished product. I don't know how soon you would need the money but this would have to be an after taxes kind of purchase for me (late February)... I wish at 4k we had a better choice than fiberglass. I can understand and appreciate all the time that went into this but for I feel for most people it's going to be out of their price range. But I hope, and it sounds like you will, find enough people willing to pay the price.

I will be posting the updates as the kit pops from the mold, is installed on my car and painted. So just stick around, I just cant promise that the kits wont be all sold by then is all. But Ill be posting progress as it happens.
 
Just so you guys know, the tires in the back that look all sunken in, those are 295 wide! thats how wide this kit is. Once the first molded kit is popped and installed Ill get my nice wheels on the car on all four
 
That is sweet looking! :applause: to you gixxerdrew. I wish something like this could be done for a 1g (as stated by many other owners. I like the race look of like canards and a CF wing. I just wish there was some stuff I could do like that that would be asthetically pleasing w/o looking like a Fast and Furious car and getting laughed at by the whole DSM community. LOL
 
Hello

So the kit was installed here are some pics of the finished product. We ran to a back to back championship victory in Super Lap Battle. With wastegate issues limiting us to 0.8bar boost! Obviously the downforce mattered!

We have a total of 5 orders and we are about to put the order in for production. So this is speak now or forever hold your peace. There will only be 5 of these ever and replacement parts will only be sold to the people who bought it previously.
