I was wondering what the stock compression reading should be for a 95 eagle talon awd. I did a dry compression test and came up with 200 psi on one with 195 on the other three. All Data says it should only have 178 psi, is that right? if so, why would mine be hgh with 128 thousand miles on it.

do you know if your engine was rebuilt at all? generally you'll want high numbers. i would only be worried about it if your numbers were below spec.

if your motor has a lot of carbon buildup, then it can cause the numbers to be highe than normal.

I don't believe that it has been rebuilt at all, so the internals should all be stock. It was running rich, so I guess that it could have generated a little carbon buildup to cause the compression to be high. Do I need to worry about the higher than normal compression if i start to turn up the boost, or will it all be fine?

Generally you dont need to worry about your compression unless they are lower than spec or are very different from each other. Like if you have three cylinders at 200 and one at 170 that would be a problem.

The problem with build up in the combustion chambers is that if you have a lot of it it can lead to pre-ignition. the little pieces of carbon get very hot and act as a glow plug, igniting the mixture before the spark plug sparks which can be very bad for an engine. If I were you I would try some sea foam or try the mopar combustion chamber cleaner and see if it helps at all with the compression test. Otherwise, just run it untill it blows. ROFL
