High Blow-off Car Dies

When my turbo blows off the RPM will drop below 600 and if I blow-off from a high RPM the car will die. Is this just an affect of turbo vacuum and an aftermarket BOV? Is there a fix or should I just put up with it?
 
We need more info to get a better idea of whats going on, even if he was venting it shouldnt kill the car like that, if anything it will run pig rich and super slow.
 
Venting will kill the car like that. I speak from experience. It does run really rich and that's why it dies when not recirculated. Extra fuel is added by the stock ECU and then there is not enough air to compensate for it.

I speak from experince too, when my hose fell off I didnt ever kill the car and it was stock.

It varies from car to car, my 96 GST never had issues with venting either, but alot of people do have severe stalling problems. But we do need more information to solve the problem at hand.

When your hose fell off, you were running lean, not rich. Every car is different but stalling after letting off is definitely one of the more common symptoms.
 
Well it is not recirculated there is not dump tube back to the coldair intake.
 
Bingo! Recirculate the BOV and the stalling and RPM drop-off should disappear. If your intake doesn't have a recirculation tube, then you'll need to buy one or put the stock intake back on.

Do you have the stock dump tube? If not, go to NAPA and get a hose that has the metal coil in so the hose can bend and not pinch. I had to do that with mine and so when my BOV goes off it make WWHHHHRRRLLLLL sound, it is pretty funny.

No, you're suppose to pull the coil out so it doesn't get sucked out and destroy the brand new BB turbo like I did. :cry:
 
Not recirculating is RICE!!!

I see that you have a BOV that doesn't recirculate.
I hope you didn't waste your money on that.

Sell that Blitz POS and buy a Greddy Type RS and the $15 recirc fitting.
I know of a shop that you can have the RS w/recirc fitting for $190 shipped.
 
Ok, thank you. My intake does have a return tube so I'll just get pipe for it.

Oldman, can you explain your reasoning here? If you don't recirculate, that means you are letting out previously metered air that was supposed to be burned, therefore the ECU is putting in an excess of fuel.

If the tube were to fall off, there would be no "cap" on the intake post-maf and it would be letting in un-metered air. When venting to atmosphere it is assumed there is a cap on the recirculation port on the intake because if there is none, the engine computer would "see" much less air than is actually going into the engine. The result, a much leaner mixture.

Un-filtered as well as un-metered, Mr Steve has got it right. Damn, don't you guys ever sleep? OMG
