car dies after high rev

So I've finally got my car running really good and I'm about to take it out to the strip for the first time but I've got a little problem I wanted to see if anyone had any advice on. If I rev my car up when the RPM comes back down it doesn't idle, it just dies. If its on its way down and I catch it around 1k I can hit the gas and if I do that it will idle. Other than that it just drops slowly til it dies. Any ideas? Thanks guys.

It could be misc. vacuum leaks.

What type of flywheel / cams / tuning do you have going on? I'm pretty new to the DSM game, but in the SHO world it's really common to have this happen if you are running a lightened flywheel / high duration cams without raising the idle.

Another thought - a dirty idle air controller that can't adjust quickly enough?

$100 says its because you had the battery disconnected, so the ecu was reset. It has to re-learn how to keep the idle when the RPMS drop drastically. Just drive it around for a while, I betcha it'll be fine in a few days.

probably a sticking IAC valve. I've seen it quite a few times.try taking it off and spray some throttle body cleaner in it to clean it out then a littlte wd-40 to try to lube it and keep it moving freely so it can respond fast enough.

Same thing happened to me when I disconnected my battery. I also have a Fidanza Flywheel which makes the situation worse. Just give it some time and the ECU will learn itself to idel right again.
