HIDs?

I'm planning to get HIDs, but I have heard different people say different things. I want the BLUEST color possible. Which one would that be? I'm thinking it's 10,000K. Others say that 10,000K is turning kinda purplish pink. Some say that 8,000K is hella blue. What does you guys say? If you guys got pictures, that'll be great too! Thanks!

Theyre illegal, you will blind the crap out of traffic going opposite of you, do a search for HID kits, and Im positive you will find the one Im talking about.

Stick with an OEM retrofit. Use Philips/Osram 4100-4300K bulbs for the best light output. After about 100-250 hours of use on the bulbs, they will colorshift to a whiter crisper light output.

If you must have the blue look, DO NOT go above 6000K as your light output will be worthless at night. Philips makes a Ultinon 6000K bulb, that would be the highest I would go.

I have 8000k and they are relatively blue. If it was my choice I would have gone 4 or 6k tho. Thats why im getting rid of these and doing a complete TSX retrofit.

A real HID kit is one that has ballasts, starters, bulbs, and projector housings.

Refer to it like a free bulb. If you hook it up, all the light goes everywhere, but not so far out. You make a housing for it to aim and you get it aimed somewhere. Now make the reflectors, and work with the lens and you get more light output in one direction. Our stock Halogen housings are made to use halogen lights, and therefore have reflectors for halogen lights. When an HID kit is put in one of these it just reflects and light goes everywhere, cuasing actually less output in the direction you want it. OEM HID cars come with projector housings which are special lenses that direct and control the HID bulbs output.

An HID retrofit is finding an OEM kit, such as off a TSX and taking the actual projector housing and grafting it into our headlight housings. Then using the oem bulbs and ballasts and hooking them up. And no those little projector housings off of ebay WILL NOT work.

A real HID kit is one that has ballasts, starters, bulbs, and projector housings.

Any true HID system needs to have ballasts ignitors and HID capsules. There are current 2 OEM systems, D2S (projector) and D2R (reflector).

The HID kits you see on eBay will bolt up to your existing 9005/9006/h3/h1 housing, but the housing you currently have is not designed for the light output of HID. HID kits just put an HID bulb in your current headlight housing which results in poor light output and extreme glare for oncoming drivers.

HID retrofitting requires you to purchase an OEM projector designed for a D2S HID bulb. They can be found on Lexus, BMW, Mercedes, Acura, Nissan, ETC. Check out eBay for good deals.

Once you've retrofitted the OEM projector in your headlight of choice (OEM, or eBay projector headlights), you get a set of Philips or Xenarc Osram HID D2S bulbs and plug them into whichever ballasts and ignitors you have. If you are using the D2S bulbs, the G2 ballasts have the ignitors built in.

Trust me, I've done both and have been way happier with a TSX retrofit. The light output is way better than stock, and a night and day difference from an eBay HID kit.
