HIDs into angel eyes?

The retrofit kit I got, was d2s bulbs with the 9006 surround so that they will fit in a 9006 socket, thats how they were made. The Projectors I used weren't d2s projector housings, they were 9006 projector housings from a 2003 BMW 3 Series without HID's... I did mine the exact same way AZDave did his. I'll go outside and take a picture of the bulb, cause they are inside my stock headlights now.

And I do have it pointing at some stuff, but you can't tell cause I was stupid and didn't move crap.. .so the light is just pointing at a bunch of shhh... I might have one, but I'll have to look for it. BRB

Non-HID BMW E46s didn't have projectors, they have a reflector housing. If they were really from that car they must have been aftermarket.

They were projectors, both low and high beams had halo's that were oem looking and it was a 9006 housing. Just like AZDave's!

Here's the HIDs inside my stock headlights.

BTW, what temp and power rating are yours? From the pics thats what I wanted mine to look like... I got 10000k 35w. But they only glare a bluish color (purple at the top of the projector) and the beam itself is pure white... I wanted the deep bright blue hid's... like those GM SUV's and trucks have... Those are the only HID's that I actually like better then my own...

Here is a quote from Plasma Garrage about the kit I have:
Q. Do Plasma Garage HID Conversion Kits come with D2R / D2S bulbs like on luxury vehicles?
A. Essentially Yes. Aside from indicating H.I.D., "D2R" & "D2S" refer to the base of the bulb which is designed to fit respective HID-D2R and
HID-D2S headlamp assemblies. The capsule (glass portion) of our HID Conversion Kit bulbs are identical to a D2S bulb. However, the base
of our HID Conversion Kit bulbs are bulb-type specific and designed to fit 8 popular bulb types. (H1, H3, H4, H7, H11, 9005, 9006, and
9007).
Just incase anyone else is confused about what I have. THE Projectors I had... I'm now getting more confused as to what I got. I ordered them from a wrecked bmw on ebay... they were said to be 03 Projector Housings (Valeo)

So basically you're not using a genuine D2R,D2S or D2C bulb. What you have my friend is the same shit that is sold on Ebay. They claim that the bulb is the same quality as genuine D2S/D2R/D2C bulbs but just with the desired base needed (ie. 9006 for our cars' low beams/H1 for Ebay projectors). The true kelvin (k) needed is at 4300 which is what you see on high-end luxury cars on the streets but is considered Gen 1 which is whiter than the stock halogen lamp, but not white enough. Gen 2 is 6000K which is pure white (sunlight) and are used on most "newer high-end" luxury cars. 10,000 kelvin (k) is definitely not the brightest but is used a lot because of the color desired from the light output. Most people seem to think that the higher you go up in the (k) the brighter the light output, when in fact, the higher you go up in kelvin (k) the less light output you get.

It is a common misconception that higher color temperatures (k) produce brighter lights. This is not true. The color temperature only determines the color but not the brightness of the HID light. The Color Temperature is simply a scale represented by the Kelvin Temperature Chart (hence the abbreviation "K") as depicted above that measures the color of the light output. Typically, the higher the color temperature, the closer you get to achieving bluish to purplish light colors.

And for those who don't understand the bulbs types; D2R, D2S and D2C are all HID's bulb sizes. D2S bulbs are made for vehicles with projector headlight housings such as BMW 3 Series, Honda S2000. D2R bulbs are made for vehicles with reflector headlight housings such as Lexus IS300, Infiniti G35. D2C bulbs is a new version invented in Japan. It is universal fit for both D2S and D2R housings.

Well that "shit" as you put it, is alot nicer then any of the other HID systems I've seen...OEM That is... Except for ofcource those GM vehicles with the deep blue. My HID's are bright, soothing to look at and give me the light I love. I would rather use these then OEM BMW or Audi or Honda D2S HID's... Since my old silverstars are almost as bright and clean as most of them!

No hard feelings man. You buy what you like, everybody is their own man and we all work hard for our money (at least most of us). I once had a 8000k Ebay HID H1 bulbs kit installed in my Ebay projectors for about a year before I could install/purchase/complete a retrofit. I also loved the color it gave off but now that I've done the retrofit the light output is a "night and day" difference. ;)

I agree with RWKustoms, those eBay set-ups were made for people looking for color, not light output...different people are looking for different things I guess. In purely city driving, I guess light output wouldn't be that important...but where I live it is.

I had eBay H3 HIDs installed in my projectors before I did the OEM retrofit and went for 8k to get the blue color. Light output was scattered, but it lit up signs and reflective tape on cop cars like crazy. As posted, the difference for me was night and day as well, I finally had the light output I was used to from my BMW.

The wide variety of color you see on high end HID systems is from the design of the projector or reflector...like a prizm effect. They all either use Phillips or Osram D2S/D2R bulbs at 4300k. Personally like the flicker of colors rather than just an all out blue light.

So do I, as you can see from mine, one pic shows white, the next blue, the next purple... I saw my car driving up towards me from a distance and all you saw was light flickering different colors... it was cool.

This hid retro fit isn't hard at all, just research and do it. Don't make it too complex.

Just some ppl read too much into it and make it harder than it actually is. Make galvenized sheet metal brackets, buy some bolts and nuts, mount the projectors, aim. Not hard.
