Hey guys. Mod suggestions on 420a?

This site may earn a commission from merchant affiliate links, including eBay, Amazon, and others.

As for headers and exhaust if you dont want to spend a lot of money get the ebay ones. If your willing to spend a bit of money you could get pace setter headers or dc sports and for exhaust apexi n1 or greddy. I personally am running the megan cat back and I paid 300 for it and I love the way it sounds. BUt before all of this I would do what others have said new tires, change oil, new plugs, timing belt is extremely important because if it breaks youll destroy motor so I would get that first expeacially since your car has a lot of miles.

I have DC Sport Header and AEM Short Ram I need to get rid of sice I am turboing up the car. I'll PM you.

Are you guys seriously saying that a body kit can't do anything performance wise? There are some body kits (not specifcally for our car) that help with aerodynamics. If you get rid of uneeded drag, you can go faster with more control at higher speeds. Every little bit counts when the stop watch reads hundreths of a second. There are even lips that help with aerodynamics as well. That's my $0.02

""Then after I get it checked out, what should I begin working on performance wise? I'm not wanting to turn it into any 12 second car or anything, I just wanna put a little more power behind the wheels, and of course, I want it to sound nice. haha""

In his first post he said he wasn't building a 12 sec car.:nono:

Lol you got the right idea. :p
But yeah man, just give me more information on the header and short ram. I may be interested. ;)
Also, if anyone else can get me good deals on some of these parts you're suggesting, let me know. Thanks. :)

Get you some headers get you a short ram rebuild the head new belts change oil and all that some plugs and wires powder coat your v/c.

What's the difference between a cold air intake and a short ram?

What's the difference between a cold air intake and a short ram?

Filter position...

CAI = Filter is under the fender near the wheel.
SR = Filter is in the engine bay.

I don't think you'll realize any significant differences using one style over another.

Oh ok. I'd prefer a short ram then ### I plan on getting a CF hood w/ a vent on it right near where it would be.

Before you go wagging your finger, you should use cognitive thought to anylize the statement I made. I never directed it towards the OP. I was simply stating that there absolutly ARE benefits to using a body kit (not specifically made for our car) to reduce drag and increase aerodynamic efficiency, just to argue the point to the posters who thought otherwise.

wassup man just a word of advice you shouldnt get a cold air intake if your gonna drive the car in the rain or snow reason being is because the filter is located so close to the ground when u go through a puddle it will suck in water.

Just get a sri.. it louder under wot and the difference of hp is about 2.332323424.

yeah, im plannin on getting a short ram. :)

the difference is in the temperature that is being brought into the engine.
Colder air=better mpg. But power wise, you won't feel any difference between them or the stock intake.

In general, a more efficient engine is also a more powerful engine. This adage is especially true for naturally aspirated vehicles. My point was that the observable differences between the two intake styles are null.

The real gains are from the high flow cone filters that CAI's and SRI's allow. While they do exist, the differences in mpg or power caused by the location of the filter are so minute and unnoticeable that it shouldn't be of any real concern.
