I bought a dsm with a non working cigarette lighter. there is just the metal thing so the car shows that its not missing anything.

From the inside, i noticed theres no wires being ran to the battery or wherever it should be.

Can someone please take me step-by-step on how to wire up that cigarette lighter?

it should have 2 wires a positive and a negative.... i wired mine with the ignition switch...!!!!! but people would say wire it directly (with a fuse of course) so that everytime you have to use it you dont have to turn the key..!!

to a negative and positive source of power... were ever you want to get it from.... under the dash, directly on the battery, or your stereo..... it all depends on were you want to wire it...!!!

I would search for the wires they are obviously there and fell. I wouldn't recommend running it off the wires for the radio the current draw could exceed the fuse limit. If worse comes to worse and u can not find the wires (which u should they have to be there) I would goto the ignition to get power.

ive had it there for several years without the fuse blowing...... yea its better to do it that way but seems like he wants a short cheap route.... if no then the ignition would be good...!!!! PS i replaced my radio fuse with a 30a so that maybe why it hasnt blown... yet it has gave me no problems at all...!!!

im having the same problem. If I run it to a negative and positive power source wouldnt it be on all the time, draining the battery?

Run one wire to the positive terminal on your battery and one to a decent ground, throw in a fuse that rated well for the certain gauge of wire that you use.
