helping a friend. 95 tsi sudden dies and now no start

Well i got this friend, he girlfriend owns a 95 tsi, and apparently it just shut off one day and now doesnt start. He said there is no spark and no fuel, and had a mechanic try a new ecu and that didnt fix it. He said he has tested spark and nothing. Checked for fuel, and nothing. Im going to take a look at the car tomarrow, does anyone have ANY suggestins on where to look and what to look for? I have the same car, i would test my ecu in to rule that out in my eyes, but i have dsmlink on mine.

Help please any and all suggestions will be tried or listen to

crank sensor...same thing happened to me a couple months ago. Is there a check engine light?

Um, im honestly not sure. Tomarrow i will be going to look at the car. Is it possible to swap mine from my car to his with out any problems caused to my dsmlink or anything on my car. ?

Swap your ECU + Link? Yeah you should have no problem swapping it. Then you'll be able to see any error codes for the sensor.

No im not swapping my ecu into the car because i do not have my tune saved. And its street tuned. Im saying can i swap my cas onto his tsi with causing any problems by taking it off my car to my car

Well if you wanna dig into your timing on your car then yeah you could swap your crank sensor for his and see if it fixes it

Yes the sensors can swap over. Just be aware that the crank sensor (not the cas) is located behind the lower timing cover, so you'll have to remove some pulleys and the cover to get to it, on both cars.

No it wont be the cam sensor. Crank sensor will act just like u didn't even turn the key past accessory, so no spark for sure. I dont know if it would cut fuel off also but I know for sure it would cut off the spark.

Ok. Well ill have to look into that tomarrow when i go to his house. He said if we got it running, he would trade me my oem hood for his cf hood. Its actually his gf's car. But either way i would like to help him get the car running.

Check fuel pressure at the rail, may have to disconnect a line if you don't have a gauge.

Well he isnt getting fuel OR spark, so l. But tomarrow i plan on going over everything i can.

Does anyone know if there is a way to "test" the CAS ? Crank sensor?
