I need some help from the experts here... I need to see if I can locate a shorter O2 sensor than the stock one. It's just too long and my O2 bung is welded so if I try to screw it in it just isn't gonna fit. it has to much of a backwards angle on it. Anyone got any ideas? it's for a 1990 (my wifes car)

which o2 sensor is this. the down pipe or the pesky turbo housing one?. if its the turbo housing one i had the hardest time just getting it out... after that it seemed almost like it wouldnt fit back in, try to keep the wire from being all twisted and hanging out. it will really help you get it to screw in. hope this works. if not.. leave it in or get a plug then have another bung that fits your o2 sensor welded in..

You may just need to have it re welded on a proper location. Did you mark the pipe for where it should be welded at before removing? If needed, you could take a grinder to the bung to shorten it. Just need to make sure it's flat and level after you are done.

I had a ebay Stainless o2 housing and I had the same problem, the bolt holes didnt quite line up but I could make it work with a dremel but even worse when I stuck it up to the motor I realized there is no way in #### the 02 sensor is going to screw in with the housing in place. I just tossed it on a shelf and bought a tubular 02 housing from Punishment Racing. Think I still have the SS one sitting on my welding cart LOL.

Here is a pic of what I am talking about.
LiquidX, that's exactly what I am gonna have done, have it moved so the O2 sensor will fit
Thanks for the suggestions

That's an ebay brand o2 housing isn't it? I'd sell it and get a Megan Racing housing instead.

I don't know, it came with the car a few years ago when I bought it. It was in the trunk along with a header too. since I put the car in the garage to update a few things I figured I would put them both on. Couldn't be that bad huh? Gotta flow better than stock no?

You can head to a muffler shop and get a bung screw to block that hole off. Then you can have a new 02 bung welded in a new location for your 02 sensor. Or, you can simply remove the 02 housing, have that hole welded up (or ground down and welded to look cleaner) and weld in an 02 bung in a better location.

Most muffler shops around here don't have a TIG welder. I dropped it off at a custom shop this morning and he is gonna change the angle of the O2 bung so it will fit. It was either that or reuse the stock housing
Thanks for the responses and suggestions...been a great help.

A bit off topic but there is also an aftermarket autometer boost gauge in the car. I think it is hooked up in the wrong place. It's hooked up on the vacum line from the end of the fuel rail. Shouldn't it be on the other end of the relay that is connected to the manifold? I see this question asked over and over but I can't seem to find the right answer to my specific application
I will search more and see what I come up with

The most accurate source for a boost gauge is the ribber hose at the end of your Fuel pressure regulator.

Thanks for that answer...that is exactly where it is at. I had to cap it off a while ago because the line running to it cracked in half. I got some new line to rerun it and I will keep it right there then.
