So my goal for next year is to have my 1g fully capable of racing in some events. I started to mod it, just replacing whatever was broken with aftermarket parts. Then started doing some hard research into my class type and see what other mods I can do and it seems like I may have accidently stepped into the next class. Using this document i found online, Comparison of permitted modifications in SCCA classes, I think I have gone into the street modified out of my targeted street prepared class. Am i correct in thinking my Bulfab crossmember, poly suspension bushings, and areomotive FPR have me in the Modified class? Also it says factory LSD on AWD cars warrents a prepared class?
Thanks for any advice guys, trying to not spend any more money backtracking my mods.

Street modified is more fun for a set up car but if you want to stay street prepared you're gonna have to convert back to stock. A lot of very common upgrades for a dsm puts you automatically in SM. Get a year under your belt and you'll want more trust me.

I just dont want to jump into some huge fast car class with my beginner skillset and deal with a harsh learning curve. But going back to stock is not something i want any part of so i suppose i will jump in feet first. Still have another few months till the car is up to my stardard of saftey so i have time to upgrade what i havent as of yet. Thanks

I have found that being in SM, I might as well just get a set of Rcomps and lose the street tires! I haven't spent the money yet, but that's my next autoX mod. The next free mod I plan on doing is serious weight reduction!

The biggest mods that made a difference for me were the following:
Rear active toe eliminator
Front LSD (came in the last used tranny I got)
4 spider center diff instead of the welded diff
Koni Yellow/Ground control (I can't remember the spring rates right now)

My DSM actually has oversteer now and I'm faster than most of the Subis! My last race was on pretty worn out Yokohama S.Drive street tires and I still had a blast!

That's a very comprehensive document - shame it's inaccurate !

You can download the entire SCCA ruleset from SCCA.com, be it Solo or road race - don't rely on third-hand guides if classing really matters. LSDs are free from Street Prepared onwards - only Stock and Street Touring restrict LSDs - one of the areas that document is incorrect.

Replacement, non-OEM subframe(s) put you in Street Mod or Prepared, depending on whether the suspension pickups are in non-OEM locations, and how heavy it is; lighter than stock, or non-OEM pickups punt you to Prepared.
